Slobbermash substitute

It is with great saddness that I have to admit defeat that I can no longer find Havens Slobbermash. Does anyone know of anything which is similar cos I'm a bit at a loss. Ive fed this to my cob for 2 years now and before that I struggled to keep weight and sparkle on him thru the winter (without being a nutter and yes I have a cob that gets too thin - go figure).... He's in work 4 to 6 times a week and is fairly fit and highly strung..

Any ideas?

Are they similar at all. I had my old boy on the ready mash extra when he recovered from a virus a few years ago. It certainly packed the weight on him & he loved it!

I don't know what other conditioning feeds you have tried but my rather stupid ex-racer is looking fab on Mole Farmer Conditioning cubes! He's also on the MF alfalfa extra, soaked grass nuts, sure grow (yep the youngstock balancer) & micronised linseed. Bizarrely my OH picked up the MF conditioning cubes by accident & I thought I'd use them up....I was amazed at how good the horse has done on them!!

would highly recomend the rowan barbary mashes. I have my boy on the ready mash and it has put weight on him without heating him at all! really impressed!

I love Slobbermash, but can't get it round here at all We took in a very poor ex-racer and popped him onto Coolstance Copra advised by my vet. It's a close second best http://www.stanceequine.co.uk/uk/index

I've just moved my boy on to the Ready Mash Extra for more condition and it's early days but seems to be doing the trick and he loves it. The people at Rowan Barbary are really nice, I asked for some recommendations and they sent me a feed sample so I could see what it was like and make sure my fussy eater would eat it. It's quite expensive but I have nearly halved my feed bill as I no longer need the build up cubes, Alfa A and SpeediBeet

can you buy in bulk from H&F Feeds?

or can you mix your own mash? from what i can see its maize,barley, bran, linseed and alfalfa.

what about trying the raw ingredients mixed and soaked?

i buy my slobbermash from a friend (silly gilly horse on here). she is leics based though so maybe too far for you?

if she ever stops having it, i will HAVE to bulk buy from H&F (who are super people to deal with BTW will go the extra mile in any way they can)
