Basically, we have a small school which is on a slope (the short sides are on the slope) and it is also just grass and a dirt track, so when it's dry it's rock solid and when it rains it's a bog. I will have to be doing most of the work on my horse while out hacking, which I have no problem with but it does mean I need some ideas from you guys.
His main problem is his speed, he just wants to gallop everywhere
When he first gets into trot he powers along so I have to slow him, but after a bit he'll just speed up again so it's a constant - I wouldn't say battle as he willing slows down - but you get the idea.
Also, when he canters he often goes a bit mental and charges along (basically galloping)
How can I slow him down and improve him in general?
Walk-trot and trot-canter transitions are pretty much all I can think of right now...?
Any ideas appreciated!
Just so you can see my darling pony!
