I have just heard that 2 Border Terriers have died after eating slug pellets

Please make sure that your dogs can't get to any.
We stopped using them years ago when one of our dogs took a fancy to them and we have a wonderful thrush and blackbird population now that we are not feeding them on poisoned snails

I detest the things and cannot understand anybody using them. There are other ways to control the slugs and snails. I had heard of dogs being kileed by them. We also have a thriving bird population with more blackbirds and thrushes than I could count.

I won't use them ...ever ..but I do get frustrated as I live with slugs coming through my dog flap to eat the cat food. What are the alternative options to get rid of slugs?

I have heard a bowl of alcohol the other sie of garden works but doesn't that kill them too? I don't want to kill them just stop them coming in the house or eating my plants?!

Apparently crushed eggshells stop slugs and snails in their tracks - not sure how you can use them on the dog flap but there must be an ingenious way!

My God what clever slugs you have!! Yep the beer option does kill them and I have heard of the mini gravel and egg shells as well. Instant coffee scattered around the dog flap will deter them apparently and also seaweed!! It is salty and they hate the salt.
