What is everyone paying for small bale staw this year?

I'm on th W Yorks/S Yorks border and our yard are charging £3.50 a bale. Is this a bit steep or am I just out of touch?

We're paying £3 per bale, delivered. First time EVER we've had to buy in as ours was just so so dusty it's unusable. It also depends on area, as your area may well have a shortage. We're South Warwickshire.

Umm..... £1.40 per bale delivered and stacked. It's really good quality as well. There is plenty of straw about, at least there is hereabouts. Lincs.

Wow! Incredible how much variation there is across the country. There's going to be a mass migration of horse owners from SW Wales to Lincs I reckon!!

We sell large bales for £40 per tonne, which works out about £13 per bale, they are the same weight as around 20 small bales which is the equivalent of 65p per bale - bargain :). We are in Suffolk. However, prices will go up after Christmas when stocks are getting low and farmers have had to store through winter. With such a poor year weather wise a lot of people didn't even bale as stalks too short. Think prices will go through the roof later so definitely worth stocking up if you can.

Paying £2 a bale for barley straw that's being stored in a barn for me. Pay for what I have when I collect so no big up front cost. Personally would seriously begrudge paying anymore than that :) based in Suffolk where there doesn't seem to be a shortage of hay or straw....yet :)
