small bit of advice - not sure

I discovered after schooling last night that both of my boy's front shoes are a bit loose (I could hear a slightly different clinky noise - VERY annoying after a while!). The farrier says he will come asap but obviously not today as it is a holiday. Question is - will I be OK to school him today (rubber or woodchip)?

Depends how loose they are? If they are flappy and therefore he could trip on them, or they move from under him, then no, I wouldn't shcool. But if they only have a couple of nails raisen and aren't easy to wobble then I would school him, but no road/field work.

they definatly aren't flappy - a few milimeteres loose really. I have to sort out my lorry a bit today so I'll see whether that takes up my whole day

you can try soaking his feet either in a bucket or with a hose pipe if you keep them wet they may hang on a while longer as they will expand and tighten round nails a bit if they havent become too loose

I wouldn't, I rode my mare when her shoes were a bit flappy once, and one of them came loose and twisted sideways... if she hadn't gotten all bolshy I'd not have notice and wrecked her foot!

just be carefull that they dont become more loose during schooling, incase it then twists and a nail goes into the horses foot; you should be ok though

becareful but yes I would school, when Hs are clanky I schhol although keep checking them as I done this once in the school and one I thought was not too bad went flying across the school in canter, stopped and too remaining clenches out and carried on - nothing or no one was hurt !!!
