Small black cob - can we show him in traditional classes?

We have a small (14hh) black cob that due to various issues is unsuitable to be ridden. However, he is very attractive, well put together, and moves very nicely so we'd like to know if he would be eligible to show in traditional cob classes in hand?

Any tips or advice gratefully received!

Yep, go for it. Driving type, coloured classes and any fun classes like best turned out, most handsome gelding etc. It's fun to do as long as you're ok to run with him and he trots up ok, might take a bit of practise at home!

Wear a nice tweed jacket, showing shirt and tie or waistcoat if warm. You're supposed to wear smart shoes and trousers for showing, a contrasting colour to the horse's legs and try to run in sync with the horse. Get the horse ultra clean and spray with water before going in the ring. Don't go nuts with oil or canter mane and tail spray, it's too sticky. Baby wipes for last minute cleaning. And have fun!!

Thanks for the tips. We show our Foresters at County level but we've never had a cob before so we just wanted to check that there weren't hidden rules that we didn't know about!

Will it matter that he isn't coloured?

Only if you enter the coloureds class! For other classes any colour horse/pony is fine.
