I'm researching an article for The Eventing Blog and looking for stories, pics etc about horses 15.2-ish and below that have gone Intermediate or above. If you have/ know of one, please let me know. We'd love to write about your "pocket rocket"! Thanks!

Ohh, i have (kind of, only did a couple of Int's).. Chestnut horse second on the left in my sig.

Short story, (as late for work).. he was 15hh, he took me round my first CIC* and Int. his claim to fame was being 3rd after the dressage and then doing the only clear round SJing (out of the dressage leaders anyway) so therefore going into the lead in the OI at Hartpury (obviously there were Adv. horses in the section)... we then W/D before the XC tho.. as it was only 1 week before Blair CCI*, where we didn't do such a good dressage, and we fell half way round the xc (at the water) it was a down hill approach, he got very strong, and over jumped into the water (which was fine) but only being 15hh, with a fairly short stride, that put us wrong for the huge step out, which we both fell up, and there ended our eventing together.. Someone was told about him, they rang us up and said they had to have him, and to name our price (he wasn't for sale).. but dad named his price, and he was sold

Re. the size.. don't know if you've heard of Bertie Hill (google him) but he always used to say "if they are good endough, then they are big enough"

Have a look at Polly Jacksons BE record on Two for Joy. He is tiny.

We have a 148 (ish) pony/horse who competes novice and schools Intermediate. She SJ's at 1.15 - 1.20.

She has the biggest heart of any equine I have ever met and will always help her rider out.

Well obviously you'll be mentionning Our Nobby, he would have been smaller than most of the ponies at the Europeans these days it seems!

My family have had two - my mum's Kendal Caprice, who was 15hh and whose record is on the BE website. I compete the mare's grandson. She was quarter Exmoor pony. Then I have one, Deconometrie, who is 15.2hh, who spent most of her career in Belgium then blossomed in her early teens here. Again, see the BE website fro results. If you are interested pm me for more details. I don't have any photos of Kendal Caprice to hand but should be able to find some when I go to our old house at xmas time.

Our 15hander Monarch of the Glen II althought not going intermediate he had a double clear round a CCI* and was very successful at at JRNs. Well only did 4 but got a 3rd, 2 2nds and 3rd! My parents bought him as a Pony Club horse and never expected him to do so well. (Also went to PC champs twice)

He also qualified for the BSPS summer champs in every WHP he did. As well as qualifying for the Riding Club champs.

There's a rather nice 'up and coming' young stallion but he's only just started his eventing career (winning and getting placed in his sections) called Gossgreen Mirage. He might be 'one to follow'.

mad murdoch, 15.1, tom robinson rode to 4* level as did its previous rider and now retired to teach others at talland, tom crisp had a mare Barnaby's Ballard that he won young rider medals on in 2000,similar height, Five Boys, kitty Boggis, enough said, i will think of more during the day x

Surely the best known although a while ago now was Mark Todd's Charisma. A tough little horse which was only 15.1 but won more or less everything.

I thought Charisma was 15.3? I might be wrong though!

Sandra Manners evented one to 4* and took it round Badminton think it was about 15hh. Clevedon Merry Lady it was called.

i have a 13.3hh that is the smallest in britain to win an open novice (hes won two now) and has also jumped around CCI* (CCNP **). He is truly the worlds greatest pony, but he has the worlds worst name - MR PERKY PERKINS!!!!!! but he isnt a horse and jumped round top end of novices, not intermediate so dont know if he counts!

thanks everyone - that gives me a lot of info to work with - I am also waiting for the US and Aussie/NZ eventers to finish discussing this on their boards, so it will take a little time to put the article together...

If only I knew how to get in touch with non-English speaking Europeans, so I could ask them too.....but I don't, unless anyone Euopean is reading this and would like to e-mail me at info@eventing-blog.com

Thanks!

Hi again - thanks for all the replies. I am going to try to put them into some kind of order and publish the article.

Im the meantime, if anyone has a photos of their small (in body) eventers, and would be OK to publish them, please send them to me at info@eventing-blog.com

Please let me know what size your pony is, what level he/ she has gone at and any fun or interesting facts.

We are getting about 500 unique visitors to the site every day now, which is amazing as its only been up and running for a month :-)

Thanks!
