I'm 5'2", and both of my (still growing) horses are somewhere over 16hh - I've stopped measuring them by this point! There's also a 12.2hh companion pony :)

5ft 2 (was 5ft 3 but I've shrunk apparently :)) I have 12.2, 13.3 and 14.1 and yes it irks me greatly that the 2 bigger ones aren't 13.2 and 14.2, I like equal not odd numbers............ I did feel big on my 13.3 for the longest time but that was my weight as opposed to my height, I was never much over weight but over the last year I've somehow lost nearly 2 stone and now feel perfectly proportioned on the 13.3 and the 14.1 now feels big - LOL!

To be fair tho I've never actually owned a horse, only ponies and anything over 14.2 feels ginormous to me so even if I got another it would only be a max at 14.2hh :)

I'm 5'4" and ride everything from the shetlands (for short periods of time, max 15mins) to 17.2hh racehorses and various things in between! I have quite a tall body so I look a bit odd on the smaller ones as I tower over them.

I’m not short a full up 5ft7 but I think these pics illustrate it depends on the horse.

14.2 506kg cob

15.2 baby cob with a bit more maturing to do

17hh 640kg WB. He’s very narrow and doesn’t take up the leg much at all! He’s too big for me I much prefer being closer to the ground, although you don’t feel high up until you get off!

Given that everything on an Exmoor is sent to challenge, I went for cob size. It works.
His crown & brow are cob, with pony cheeks, so I went for the cob.

this has certainly turned out to be an interesting thread! the fact that I'm a similar height to you but had to order tall height long boots to fit my calf probably explains why i seem to fit better on the bigger horses haha (i.e. wildly out of proportion :p)

you all have such gorgeous horsies

& I have ridiculously long thighs according to every saddle I sat in! Nothing fitted me!

Thanks, montevxcii! :) To top his height, my gelding has an extremely wide back and shoulders, so if I sit on anything smaller I feel like I'm riding a pony. :D I have ridden taller horses and didn't enjoy it as much too, so I guess my perfect height for a horse is about 16-16.2hh

5’3’’ on a skinny legged 14hh (he’s a good personal trainer too as I’m having to keep my weight down as he isn’t a weight carrying type...I’ve put a bit on in the last two years so need to sort it out so he doesn’t start groaning as I get on!)

I'm around 5'3" and have a 14hh Welsh D, 15.1 TB and 15.3 TB x ID. I feel and look fine on all of them, but it feels a very long way down from the 15.3!

Only thing with my Welsh is that she is like sitting on a pogo stick in comparison to my other two as she is rather short coupled!

I'm 5'2 (on a good day) and my biggest horse is 15hh, the others are 14.2hh and 14HH. I used to ride bigger horses years ago when I was a groom (up to 17hh) bit I much prefer tiddlers.

On a side note Levrier in my head you are very tall and am shocked to discover you are a mini person like me :D

Sorry I've only just come back to the thread, this tickled me hugely - I SO wish I was very tall ElleSkywalker :D :D Sadly I am.... well....dumpy :p Short and square shaped :D
