Doesn’t sound too bad in terms of size, congrats on the new arena!
That’s a very useable sizeWe managed to fit in 18x33m arena. Delighted with how it’s progressing.
That’s what I think too! It’s been 4 years since I moved to my own place from livery and now having somewhere dry to ride or lunge all year round will be amazingSounds like you just need to go as big as is practically possible within the constraints of the land, and then figure out exactly what it's useful for. Even if you can't jump in it at all, a surface to do walk and trot work on in winter would be amazing. Something is almost always better than nothing!
Thanks! Will share photos once it’s complete. I was honestly put off by so many people saying you would need 30k plus to put in a basic arena that I never bothered! I think they’ve been ripped offThat’s a very useable size.
Thanks for this! I think any surfaced area is a win in the UK!!!!Daughters undenied surface is about 50-60 ft, vaguely circular and does the job, she long reins, lunges ( not much) rides in there and can get small jumps in. It’s very good for focusing riders mind on suppleness, light aids and forward thinking!
That sounds great - having played around in my friend's odd shaped arena I'd happily take anything with a surface. This year has been tough for field schooling with the ground like concreteWe managed to fit in 18x33m arena. Delighted with how it’s progressing.
So ideally a rectangleIt’s literally for backing young horses and long reining walking around getting them used to start stop turn. I will long rein in it and lunge and pop them over a x pole then they are sold on for new owners to school/produce so not used for schooling, jumping courses etc. my old horses just likes a mooch around and a trot about to keep her entertained over winter when I can’t use the field to ride in. Will prob also be a surfaces turnout area for them mostly
We’ve managed to fit in 18x33m so hopefully it will work ok for some light riding and lunge work. I’m juts grateful to have my horse at home and have some surfaced area to work in1ve a 25 x 18 and its fine for inhand work, long lining and backing, but im only able to really ride the more advanced dressage horses as its too tough for unbalanced horses to trot in, anything over 14hh is too big for trotting in. can canter them on lunge but not onboard there isn't a hope of me jumping a crosspole on board with them ad the turns are too tight.
I’ve managed to fit in 18x33mSo ideally a rectangle
Id say 25x15 MTRS
If you really want to push it then 30x 10.
Well done !I’ve managed to fit in 18x33m
