Small stable or anxious in another stable

Hi

I have a bit of a dilema and need your opinions please.
My horses stable is within a building along with 1 other pony. When the other pony isnt there he gets anxious and neighs and box walks as he cant see out to where the other horses stables are.
However the other horse he shares the building with may need to be put to sleep.
This horses stable has a window to the outside of the building that opens so that you can see the rest of the horses/yard so my horse would be ok if i moved him in there.

The problem is the stable is small and im not sure whether its too small for him.
My horse is 14.3 arab and is 19 years old.
The stable width of where I would need to put him is 6.9foot wide. The stable he is in at the moment is 7.8foot wide. Would 6.9 foot wide be too small for him? *touch wood* he hasnt got cast before and he doenst roll in the stable but he does lay down.

What are you opinions?
Would he be ok the smaller stable?
Should I just leave him in his normal stable and give him time and he will eventually get used to being in his stable alone?
Anyone got any ideas how to make a horse less anxious in stables alone?

I think neither! Can't you ask if one of the other horses can be moved into the stable next door? Its not fair for your pony to be left on his own but also not fair to have him in a small stable. Failing that, can you leave him out 24/7 to take away the need for a stable completely?
