Hi, just a little update after my previous post on my hack gone wrong!!!! Where I hacked out for an hour (first time alone with new horse) and spent most of it on foot!!! My instructor said to me not to turn round half way through a hack but carry on and do the whole circuit, after the last time I was really put off as did not want to try the whole hour again. Anyway, I have found a solution and a new route to take where I can take it in smaller chunks until we build up the courage to do the whole circuit. So today we did a 20 minute hack through the centre of the village I live in. We encountered numerous cars (he never has a problem with them), a barking dog (which unfortunately took him by surprise on his poor sight side, but stayed on him and carried on), I saw a sheep (luckily he didn't!!) and some cows again luckily he missed these!!! We also encountered work vans and chain saw noises. But we did it, and I stayed on him and he only had little spooks!!! So am feeling very pleased and now vow to myself to do this 2 - 3times a week and build up and up until we can venture out into the countryside together. PS he is only 6 years old so quite young!!
