Small toothed leaf in hay ID

Size? Looks like a burnet to me, probably fodder burnet (Poterium sanguisorba ssp. balearicum) based on the sharp-toothed margin. Alder leaves are serrated to a degree but not toothed.

Thanks all, it’s slightly bigger then a two p coin and I walked out to our field hedge with dog rose in it and it matched pretty perfectly

If your hay has a lot of this it's a meadow plant, not a woody plant. Size is about right for fodder burnet. Can you ask the supplier?

According to my plant app it’s great burnet. So ok for horses. Is a bit like hazel though. But I’d check with whoever made and sold the hay.

I would think unlikely to be great burnet unless the hay has come off a conservation meadow. The other burnets are much more common and appear in seed mixes for horses.
