Smelly paddocks

So husband and I were discussing 'smelly paddocks', this seems to be more noticeable with one of my boys who as always had stinky wee but tidily has a toilet corner of the paddock which stinks in the warm weather.

I seem to have sorted the stable smell, but any ideas for the paddocks?

If he very much only uses that corner can you dig it up and put some well draining stones down, cover with sand or similar?

My old boy has an outdoor space attached to his stable. I have had to dig out the wee spot and backfill with bark chippings, which then have to be heaved out every spring.
