Smelly Woman Horse Rider Kicked out of Tesco's !!

I've been known to go shopping at Bluewater in full riding kit, I so don't care what people think I look or smell like!

*Edited to say!!!* I didn't try any clothes on 'though - that would be gross.
 
Anyhoo, what would the lecherous men in there LOOK at if I weren't trollin around in my jods and long boots.... the amount of times I turn cos I've walked past what I've wanted and some bloke is staring at my ass is unbelievable !!

What makes it funnier is I'm nearly 6' tall and built like a brick s###house and just reasonably looking !!! pervs !!!!!! I ALWAYS glare at them and boy do they go red in the face ROFL

The local garage and coop would probably loose a hell of lot of revenue if they didn't accept people in jods and boots. As we all buy our lunches on the way to the yard, or after morning with the horses.

The local garage do tend to keep a bucket and mop nearby on sunday afternoons though! think they know whats coming!

OMG am laughing my ass off at the comment about "manure is obviously not suitable for a place that sells food".

Em, hello? Everyone who grows their own veg covers it in manure - sometimes they pay homebase and b&q vast amounts for the privilege!!! I'm sure all the organic veg is already covered in manure, a little bit more ain't hurting anyone

I don't go to the shops in my horsey gear now that the horses are at home, but always used to. I must admit I'd never be really muddy, as I'd try not to get into my car that muddy. But I'm sure I smelled plenty

Sadly i DO hose my boots off, because I try to lessen the amount of crap I drag into my car so that I don't have to hoover it more than the usual once a year.... poor car !! Good thing Tesco's dont smell my car.... I'd be banned from the car park LOL !!!

Just to say I'm always aware of trailing stuff around in non-horsey areas so made sure (as usual) that i'd knocked any mud or whatever off the bottom of my boots. other than that my gg is on full livery so i was lucky enough to just have got on and taken a leisurely hack that morning so i wasn't even sweaty and hadn't trodden in muck as i pay someone to do those chores as i work full time!
My complaint to Tesco was the way they'd dealt with it really and not so much about the fact someone was bothered by the horsey smell. Can't actually believe the debate that's raging on the daily mail site!!

I was in a Tesco today in my riding gear, no-one batted an eyelid. As someone else said there are far smellier people around than folk in riding gear.

I also go into a quite posh dress shop near the stables, if I've been riding I take my boots off at the door, if I've not yet been to the stables I leave them on. The owner of the shop is very happy to see us, and says that horsey people go to more functions than non horsey people, so she wouldn't want to scare away her best customers.

When I worked in a shop, I had to ask someone to leave because of their "scent". I was really embarassed, and i'm sure they wanted to kill me, but I did my best to deal with the situation kindly. Awkward for all! x
 
hahaha! this is great! it makes me want o go and roll in the muck heap and visit tescos! I would have kicked up even more a stink than i was trailing, i can't believe they even said anything! We should have a national horsey people visit tescos day in all uot our glorious mud and see what they do.

Actually we don't, I have to work, do my horses twice a day and try and have a social life, i'll be damned if i'm not popping in to Tesco on my way home in full yard gear to get my shopping. Where do people think food grows? and what fertilises it anyway? I don't complain about your stupid crying dirty baby with a snotty nose, or the old man who stinks of wee, or indeed the teenage bboy on your checkout with terrible B.O, so don't moan about the smell of the country side. I can't wait for the day when a branch of Tesco kicks out one of its own farm suppliers for being too dirty!
 
As would my local Waitrose. Heck, I wouldn't feel right in there without wellies on! Seems like another reason to boycott supermarkets to me. I've left a comment.
 
I work for Tesco and believe me, a little bit of horse shite and a few bits of straw are the least of our worries in there. The bloke who stinks (and I mean really stinks) of stale urine, the bloke who pees himself, exposes his backside and throws up down his jacket, the bloke who smells like a walking ashtray/whisky bottle., the couple who smell like a 10 year old deep fat fryer, the list goes on. These people, who come in on an almost daily basis, are not to be spoken to about it because it might infringe upon their 'human rights' (although urine man was banned for a while to clean up his act, because another customer complained). We have to serve these people (mind you, I refuse, shop keepers right and all that). Seems that a horsey person is therefore picked on, not because they are more of a hygiene hazard, but because they are seen to be 'not mentally unstable'.

I know which people I would rather be dealing with!!! There's naught wrong with a bit of clean horse shite!!
 
are they going to start show inspections then? Because i bet theres quite a few people a day go in there with dog shite on their shoes, which personally i think is faaaar stinkier than horse poo. Anyway- hygiene... on the floor? Their food shouldn't be touching the floor unpackaged anyway! I'm sure a bit of horse muck is the least of what's been trampled through there, it should be cleaned every day anyway.

Idiots. Well the joke's on them now anyway, as they're been shown up more than anyone.

And i worked in retail so can vouch for those stinkers who have no excuse- just have a bath once or twice a week even i mean c'mon!?

But seriously - Horse poo and pee do NOT smell as bad as stale fag smoke, or fag smoke mixed with alcohol! I had to sit next to a guy on the bus yesterday who smelt like that AND BO and I was sooo close to gagging!

Seriously tho, they cannot say that manure ia the reason - what about all the folk that go shopping and who haven't washed their hands after wiping their arse from a [****]? All those germs over everything eh? Horse manure is HEALTHIER than that! Anyone who has eaten a mushroom sneakily without washing it will have a tum that can handle some pony poop.

But anyhoo...........TUT TUT Tescos!! Considering you have a monopoly on the supermarket market, then you should at least be a tad more considerate to your customers.

Bet they wouldn't tell Zara to leave eh??

I have been boycotting Tesco for over 2 years, this is another reason not to grace their doors.

Sainsburys have never kicked me out for being slightly mucky or sweaty after sports...
 
My goodness! Another bad move on Tesco's part. I bet they wouldn't like it if all us "stinky horsey folks" boycotted their stores, now would they?

A man asked for me to be chucked out of my local post office because I allegedly had, "horrid, horsey feet". I just smiled at him and carried on queueing because he was a labourer on the building site over the road and had, "horrid, stinky muddy feet" himself. Cheeky beggar!
 
LOL, it's not as if we're going to wipe out muck boots on the food!

I always go shopping in my riding clothes and pick my son up from school in them (even went to my son's last parent evening in them!) as I don't drive and have to ride my bike everywhere and don't have the luxury of TIME to go home and get changed.

I went to Netto a few weeks back and there was a couple who STUNK of stale HUMAN wee and cigarettes. I had my riding clothes on so it over powered my scent and I felt like throwing up it was that strong. It's people like these that are offensive not us natural outdoor smell folk!
 
Oh i forgot to say, i've actually ridden to the local petrol station/shop, 'parked' there (who i was with held her) and went and got us some drinks etc for our hack. They were really happy to have us in there and a horse stood outside lol. It's near that many yards they'd have half the customers if they banned us.

I'm another one who regularly does the food shopping in my horsey clothes. I have to - I work full time, but miles from any supermarket (so can't get food at lunchtime) then go straight on to do the horses after work, then hit Tescos on the way home. Must admit I've never had any comments at all.

On a more positive note, however, I must give all due credit to my local village Somerfield store. It was only a few weeks ago when I popped in there one evening just before they closed at 9pm. I think we'd run out of milk or aomething.

Anyway, I had been home from doing the horses, but I hadn't got round to getting changed, and when I popped round to Somerfield I didn't think twice when I put on my muddy muck boots at the front door for sheer speed and convenience.

Of course, got to Somerfield, walked through the door, got round the corner of the first aisle and there was a young chap washing the floor. It was then that I suddenly realised that my boots weren't exactly going to do his nice clean patch of floors any favours whatsoever - and I was about to ask him if he wouldn't mind fetching me a pint of milk rather than me ruining his floor - but he just smiled at me said "it's okay - go ahead - it'll wipe off easy enough"! So, all credit to that young guy for having such a great attitude!

surely its our human right to smell of a little bit of horsey!!!! anyway my horsey smells of chicken (well on his nose he does), and its a really lovely smell, one of my favs actually and has lots or memories attached to it (all my good horsies in the past also had chicken nose, in fact I won't buy one now that doesn't) So I just say when people say I smell of horse 'oh thanks' coz I just think they are telling me I smell of 'chicken nose'.
