Smoke detectors in stables

I want to install some smoke detectors in my American barn but want something that has the siren outside the barn - like a burglar alarm. Does anyone know such a thing exists?

thats a good idea.would not ordinary house ones do?

The problem using normal domestic ones is that a) we don't want 30+ horses in a panic if it goes off b)our house is about 100m from the yard so we wouldn't hear it at night if it went off inside a closed barn. I've looked on Ebay at various wireless fire alarm systems but all of the siren boxes must be inside and I can't find any manufacturer who does a weatherproof exterior siren box.

maybe you can get an interior one and then mount it in an external box which is waterproof but not soundproof (I was thinking of even you might be able to add a small amplifier if the sound was too muffled in the box?)

or mute the inside stables one and just have the relay stations in the house live?

My friend installed them in her newly built wooden stables, a detector in each stable, hay barn and tack room all hooked up centrally to an alarm in the tackroom that sounded like a burglar alarm, loud enough to be heard at the house.
So yes it can be done, the company installing her stables put it in, worth calling up a couple in the back of H&H and seeing how much they charge
