Snaffles - eggbutt or loose ring?

This is exactly what I bought for my boy - he has rather delicate lips bless him and loose ring wasnt suiting him but I like the action of the loose ring (i.e. as others explained, more difficult to grab hold off, more softness and less problem of angles). We both really like this one.....

loose ring- but used a shires (?) lozenge loose ring and it pinched a lot. now use a neue schule loose ring and it hasn't pinched once. i think pinching is more down to the design although comparing both bits they look very similar.
