Snatching hind leg up.

I have a 16 year old ish. Over the last few weeks he has been snatching his near hind up sharply when I pick it out in the morning. He only ever does it the first time I pick it up. If I immediately pick it up again he is completely normal. He is not lame and has had no injuries to itin the 2 years I have owned him any ideas? Am hesitant to call the vet out as there will be nothing for them to see.

Have you thought about it being stringhalt?

My gelding has stifle issues (bone cyst, operated on then tore meniscus) he picks leg up stupidly high.

It is exactly like a stringhalt but only ever once, in the morning the first time I ask him to pick it up. The rest of the time there is nothing at all so not sure if the symptoms fit.

My lad gets snatchy behind when his back is due a massage. Might be worth a look at his back?
