Snatching the bit?

I was riding a pony recently who is brilliant, but does periodically snatch the bit down. Any particular suggestions for why this might be? Otherwise a well schooled PC pony.

Obviously response would be has the pony had his/her teeth checked recently?? Form of evasion? Trying to get away from contact? Trying to get out of work? Habit? xx

Mine does this and it's really really annoying, as well as painful sometimes.

She's had her teeth checked, she does it when she thinks she's done enough work and is demanding her head, sort of.
