Any ideas, my old gelding has had some green stuff coming from his nose, I found it when mucking out this morning.

He was wormed at the weekend and doesn't have a cough or any other noticeable symptoms. Could it be a chill as they have been in / out / wet / dry with the weather.

is his hay ok, he could have had a cough to clear without having a true cough? my horse does this from time to time, i'd keep an eye on him, if he's bright enough otherwise i shouldn't panic.

You will find you hay is very dusty, so shake it out & them steam or soak it, don't hang it in a hay net, put it on the floor.

My fella just had the same thing, its gone thank god.

If it doesn't go within 3-4 days, vet

Thankyou, yes he is bright in all other ways and his hay appears ok but will shake out anyway as doesn't hurt. Will also feed from floor and see if that helps.

We have a virus doing the rounds here. I know of atleast two other yards where same problems showing up.
Symptoms are snotty nose with green-yellow discharge. No other symptoms but lymph glands are up. If you touch them horses cough. Is affecting the younger ones worst.

Got vet out and it has developed into a respiratory infection in two of mine so prescribed anti-biotics. He confirms younger or weaker horses can't fight it without medical help.
