Last Tuesday I called the vet out as Millie had some impressive looking greeny/yellow snot coming out of her right nostril and clear fluid was literally dripping out of her nose like a tap. Vet checked her sinuses, didn't think they sounded overly blocked, and listened to her chest and could hear slight mucus build up. She's just finished a 7 day course of antibiotics yesterday. Although it's definately better, she still had a bit of yellow gunk coming out of her nose this morning, although not dripping like a tap. She's got another 3 days rest, she's been out since last Tuesday so she hasn't been around dusty hay/straw.

I've left a message with the vet to ask him to call me but was wondering whether anybody had any idea, would you expect the snot to have cleared up completely or will she need a longer course of ABs? She's been fine in herself and is still scoffing away, and doesn't have any trouble breathing (not that she does enough to make her need any extra puff...!!

Hi. Have had exactly the same situ - once three years ago and again this year. On both occasions it was unfortunately teeth problems. AB's will only clear up the infection for a short period of time as it will not resolve the cause of the problem. This time the fracture in the tooth was very hard to find and was not visable by just looking, had xrays and it was only then we could see the infection around the root which then indicated that the tooth was the issue. Be careful about letting it go on too long as the infection can really mess up the sinus and if the 'snot' solidifies in the sinus u have real problems (and additional costs) getting it sorted out.

Hope this helps and good luck
