Firstly, lets get the serious one out the way. Around me they have utterly failed to grit/salt the roads. They are covered in the white stuff. After February they promised they would do more to keep the roads free. Are they? Nope! Anybody else got this problem.

And now the fun part. Went on BBC news to look at the snow news (yes, I am secretly 5...) and found this. Watch the video. Gets interesting from about 15 seconds onwards. Really made me giggle.

My mother is stuck on a train atm, and then has to bike back from the station, so I am nervously waiting for her to come home safe.

My neighbour fears she won't be able to make her flight in the morning

This is terrible lets hope they can sort this weather out..
maybe they can do a deal with global warming at copenhagen
and stop him or maybe its a her causing this climate chaos, a few years ago climate change was going to cause mediteraian temps in the south and dry summers, we were going to have to replace grass and roses with cactus now he seems to be into rain and cold snowy winters....Stop climate change now!!! I say more taxes, funding for mad proffesors and listen to more vested interests...

He said reaching to Oxfordshire- thats me, whoop! No doubt roads will be awful though, no snow atm but forecast for later, although everything frozen solid so a little worried about the roads! :s

Gonna be -7 tonight for me... :O HELP!

Thing is, they simply cannot keep all roads gritted and free from snow. Up here, we only really get our proper main roads gritted like mad - even then the gritters have to give up in some places and quite often close parts of main roads (for example the A96 which is basically the only road linking Aberdeen with Inverness!). I remember being stuck on that road in my 4x4 in a big jam for 2 hours as a snow blower had to come in and get rid of huge snow drifts even though the road had been gritted like mad. Our smaller roads very rarely see a gritter at all, all we get (if we're lucky) is a local farmer who's paid to try and clear it (but of course, roads are still covered with a layer so only passable in 4x4's).

Down your way, it seems to go nuts whenever you have a tiny bit of snow! lol. It bugs me a bit because all the news is about your snow. Whenever we have blizzards its never mentioned :P Hope you enjoy while it lasts

We had some snow showers yesterday but nothing settling - meant to be heavy tomorrow. Love it.

what really bugs me was the fools that were still driving along the bypass at 60+ because "its been gritted" AND!! its still -1 & snowing hard.
by 9am bypass was shut due to 9 seperate incidets on a 5 mile streach meaning everythnig was comming through the village, still going too fast (its a 30 zone & our school is still open) but we in the villge havent been gritted.

i used to love being up at great grans in this weather, they lived up on the shore's of Luss & were always prepared for being snowed in (its just part of live up north of the border) id love to be up where you are Magic_magpie.
