Snow packing in feet

First of all i just wanted to know if anyone has gone hacking in the snow? Took my mare for a walk around the feild but the ice and snow just balled up in all of her feet. Is there anything i get put in her feet to stop this a bit?

fihunt - I have tried vaseline all weekend and it didn't work really? how much are you supposed to put on and where exactly? Thanks been worried about turning out as it balls up on her feet after a 10 minute walk!

I put a good smear up inside her hoof and round the inside edge of her shoe. Not on the bottom of the shoe of course!

I did this exactly it does ball up still but probably much better than if I didn't put any on, also she has natural balance which might make it easier to ball up?

vaseline or effol.... used the latter this weekend and it worked brilliantly

WD40 helps my livery pony who is shod in front, but really unless you take the shoes off, it will still pack in eventually.

mine come in from the field with totally clear feet (no shoes) but poor pony is on wedges in her front feet, it just wont drop out.
