So who's been brave enough to tack up and go out?
I'm proud to say I managed to get out for a quick hack this morning for the first time in over a fortnight! :D
Its by far the deepest snow I've ever ridden in, it came up to little Skittles's knees :p
never the less, we both enjoyed our selves and even managed to have a sneeky little canter, with me shouting "wooooooooooooooo!" all the way through it!
I didnt manage to get any pics because I was at the yard by my self.
I'd love to see everyone elses snowy riding pics though! :D:D

Hi Becca! Good for you! I have been staring sadly at the snow for days now trying to summon up the courage to have a go at riding in it! My theory is that as long as we stay off the roads and in fairly deep stuff, we should be OK, though everyone thinks it's a mad idea! Did you use anything in the hooves to prevent balling of snow? It's the only thing stopping me! Looks like fun out there and I know I used to do it when a bit younger (!). Is your horse shod?

Went for a hack of around a hour and a half on Saturday.(OH running in the snow, me riding...Mad!)
Didn't managed to get to the farm yesterday so farmer is having an eye on Bilto :-)

Hack was great, even managed to have 2 or 3 short canters in the part where I know there are no holes or anything dangerous :-)
Oh I have no problem with snow underneath his feet as he is barefoot! :-)
Got some pictures of the "before the hack":

Bilto being nosey!

Didn't manage to go far because we have to go on roads to hack. But I did take Tilly out and am just back from it. Went up one track to where the schooling area is and she decided to have a little blast up it. We then stopped to dig for some yummy grass which mummy wouldn't let her eat so she sulked.
Then we went down the bottom of the road after jumping sideways at the sheep (which are always there).

Tilly didn't want to go home so dug for more grass. She then went past the yard and around to the barnand stopped very proudly beside her feed bins, before nasty mummy made her go back to her field.

Nice to be out and about but not much that we can do. x

NSLN is Bilto a Welsh C? He is very similar to my mare!

I haven't been able to ride, our yard is at the top of a big hill and all the hacking is at the bottom!

Hi,

No Bilto is a Haflinger (his dad) crossed Anglo Arab (his mum) :-)
But I agree he does look like your mare.
By the way what does the C mean after Welsh? Sorry I'm French and I've never heard of this before...Bilto is French as well :D
Hacking for us is just after crossing a very small road from where he is kept in DIY livery. We are very lucky :-)

What a cutie! - Lovely pics. Wish I could ride out. The lanes are so dangerous at the moment, I just don't see the point in risking it. Might have a go in the school or one of the paddocks if it's not too icey tomorrow.
