How weird is this?

Woke up this morning to 3 inches of snow over everything; Oh AR$E, now we'll have to dash over to the ponies and break out the hay (ours are out 24 / 7, 365 and still have plenty of grass).

During the day we had two more heavy snow showers, total, over 6 inches of snow.

Now the weird bit; a mile outside town......no snow, nothing not even that cold. Head back into town and drive into thick snowstorm which meant it took me an hour and a half to drive / crawl the five miles to the ponies.

Billhooks to the car! Tomorrow I'm walking, it's quicker.

Must be peculiar to Somerset! We're West Somerset, woke up, thought "oh good, no snow", drove up to the livery yard and had an inch dumped on us in about 10 minutes!
Admittedly the yard is at the top of a hill, but that was still taking the mick! Drove back down to Tesco, all clear and not even that cold.

I came up the M5 from Exeter back to Bristol this morning - was very odd - Exeter had snow, 2 miles up the M5 from there like a blizzard briefly then none from near Cullompton to Highbridge and all road conditions fine and then I guess I hit what had landed/was landing on the Mendips - sleety rain and snow and bad visibility. Then up hill past Clevedon you wouldn't know you were in the same place...nothing! Bristol barely anything!

We are in the snowy bit between J22 and J21.

I went over to HorseWorld at lunchtime and coming back into WsM is when I realised just how localised the snow was.

It also means for the second Christmas running I'll get to do no riding, unless it all melts tomorrow

we had about an inch dumped on us in about half an hour this evening. After my boss phoned twice to ask if it was snowing yet 'no...not yet!!' after the 2nd phonecall the heavens opened. Not fun when we have many many stables to muck out and youngstock pens to muck out, horses to work and turnout!! not a chance.

No snow :(

.....am I the only person who likes this stuff...??:cool:

I lived in Salt Lake City in Utah for a while, and then in Wenatchee in Washington State - lotsa snow!!! :D :D :D

Come to think of it, we used to get a fair bit in Yorkshire as well :D

We've almost 2 inches of snow - and I said last year it never snows before Christmas AND lays on the ground! In fact I always used to say if we don't get any snow before the end of January it won't last more than half a day.

Daughter and dog are pleased, ponies are not so chuffed, but they will ignore their field shelter!
