I thought i would come on and see a million threads about snow...

im going out of my mind not being able to get to the yard as we have 7 inches of snow, bad wind and still coming down heavy!!!

derbyshire is a nightmare!!!

:(

I know!! it is crazy, -1 here, and on my way back from yard road was closed and it took me about twice as long.

Where abouts are you in Derbyshire?

:D Have been lucky so far, cold wet and blowing a gale, but no snow, but I do feel for all of you trying to get to your animals, lets hope this horrid weather will soon pass:rolleyes:

We've had sleet, snow and rain with a nice bit of wind added for good measure. No snow settling thankfully and I guess I should be pleased the the grass is getting a much needed watering

Horses are looking miserable out in the fields :o

It started here about 9.30 last night and the yard is full! If I want to go anywhere today I am going to have to dig out the gate and hope that the lane is not blocked with the drift that happens everytime it snows! We have about 4 inches of the damn stuff, but it has stopped now and I think (well hope) that it is begnning to thaw.

I'm in North Yorkshire and my poor garden is trashed :( All my daffodils are shredded and the colour that I had from the other Spring plants is gone as they're flattened thanks to a howling gale and snow :(:(

No snow here, although it was sleeting half an hour ago and hasn't stopped raining since yesterday! Got the horses in this am, thought I'd let them dry off for a bit, change their rugs and let them munch some hay out of the wind. Well it lasted 5 mins, my tb didn't even touch his breakfast! Was too busy bombing about in stable, screaming and setting my other off! Couldn't get near their rugs as would have got squashed! Tb is now in 24/7 turnout routine! So I chucked them back out in the wet, wind and cold!

We had quite a lot in the Pennines. Its really windy too, which has made it drift. We just had to dig the horses out of the stables! The electric has been off all day until half an hour ago, and there are lorries nose to tail all the way up the main road as the road is totally blocked.

I can't quite believe it - I went away last friday in glorious sunshine, and returned last night to blizzards and gales. Its like another world! So glad I'm not working - all animals fed, watered and cleaned out, and we are sitting in front of a log fire.

My two live out 24/7 but have a shelter & big hedges.
They have been unrugged for two weeks now & I debated re rugging yesterday but decided that it was going to stay above freezing & they could easily get out of any wind.
This morning they were both stood with bums to the wind outside their shelter (which does open the wrong direction for the current blowing but has half that end covered..)
My mare was shivering. I put them Hay in three locations out of the wind and added a kettle of warm water to some speedibeet for breakfast but she wouldn't be caught so she can stay rugless. Come lunchtime she isn't shivering and there is hay left. I have opened another paddock so they have good shelter from any direction and we no longer have any snow.
We are at the bottom of the Pennines 650ft above sea level.

grim wet sleet, hail and rain here in Leics, horses went out at 7am in HW but looked peed off and miserable so came in at 12, poor Fig was shivering :( all are now installed in cosy stables, in HW and under rugs, with haylage and are much happier, think its the sudden change thats caught them out, and us, should have put hoods and under rugs on when they went out but didnt actually expect it to be THIS bad!!!!!!

 Heavyweights  In April  You cruel, sadistic...

oh wait, it's snowing and vile out :p

We've had bucket loads of rain and a bit of sleet. Puddles in furrows on the pasture, neddies are turned bum-to-the-wind up against the big hedge. I put their rugs on yesterday before it started.

I'm not complaining though, the grass will get a turbo-boost when the sun comes out again! :D

It's lovely down here :p Bit of rain last night, so hopefully the grass will be growing again and the ground's slightly softer, but sunshine now :D

My horses are all naked, other than the cob who's wearing a coat of pure mud :D

(now we'll have snow in 3...2...1...!)

Vile, wet & snowy. Stupidly took all my heavyweight rugs to the rug washing man during that spell of sunny weather! Had to layer up with 3 rugs + hood.

Kent/Surrey/Sussex border: no snow, lots of sunshine, no rain (we need it!) and pretty mild still. Not like it was in the last few weeks, but nice enough to go out without a coat! Most of ours have a med weight on overnight as it is dropping quite a lot.

You poor things :( Its like I am living in another country we basking in sunshine and really warm temps down here and I look at the news and I can not believe it, I do hope that it does not stay with you for too long. Take care in this horrid weather.

Bloomin awful here on shrops borders. Woke up and couldn't see out the window as so caked in snow, and couldn't get out of front door as blocked by drifts.

Fortunately bought all horses in last night depsite having been out since end of feb. The wind has been horrendous and made it bitterly cold, with the snow blowing everywhere.

Some clever dick decided to plough the lane that goes past our drive, resulting in a 3ft wall of snow blocking us in.

Meant to be at a Combined Training event tomorrow which I can't see will happen unless the snow thaws pdq and can get lorry out.

It is my birthday today and had planned a nice hack with my son, out to lunch and lots of family fun. Instead have spent the day shovelling poop and snow - not impressed!!

9.30pm and still snowing........
