Had our first few flakes of snow today!! Luckily all our horses were wearing their thickest rugs but looked thoroughly put out when I brought them down:) has anyone else had any snow!

If they've got their thickest rugs on already what are you going to do when it gets really cold? And yes, we had some suspicious looking stuff on the windscreen.

Mine only has a medium weight, and the rescue girls are naked. They are hungry though - there is not much grass left in the field. They make up for it when they come in at night though :)

We had a few flakes as we were bringing the horses back from their walk. They're both still unrugged (in at night) but I'm considering putting a fleece on the Arab when we go up and do the evening nets later. Will have to see how warm she is!

Not here in Essex but COULD get a couple flakes over night apparently according to local news, but its bitterly cold in that wind, horse was happy to be in tonight as he always is BUT had to change rug to a slightly thicker one he is unclipped and was wearing his m/w and was feeling the chill so went up a rug as his stable has two windows the wind comes into.

Searching for a decent neck h/w rug ready

I just walked out of the barn to find this- coastal Durham area!!

Nope none in leicester yet, although getting really cold and expecting to get colder by the weekend and the begining of next week, not looking forward to it, pretty to look at but not to do horses in lol :)

OH said it's snowing on the coast and he's on his way home...we live in Lincs.

....I watch with interest the comments on FB and most seem to be flying into a panic. Rushing out to grab horses in, bung rugs on....4 out of 5 of mine are naked and will remain naked until clipping, the 5th has been clipped. The Shire X and the NF pony will not see a rug this year, the other 2 will have a rug after clipping this weekend.

Sludgy sleety stuff on the windscreen on the way back from work today :( However is just gone clear and cold. Hopefully thick snow fall so I don't have to go to work tomorrow!

No snow here either, catastrophe if we do though!!! No snow ploughs and diggers in this department, other than for autoroute.

8C and showers.

So, is this the start of a long cold winter, a short sharp snap, or just the far flung effects of Sandy? (Google 'The Perfect Storm')
