Snuggy Hood Head

I've just ordered both a set of Jams and a Turnout hood in there sale! Reports suggest there a rather good product. Especially for those of us silly enough to buy coloured's and greys ;)

If you worried RE sizing Snuggy Hoods have a facebook page and are more than happy to help with queries. I've found there customer service great!

i made my own.

Borrowed a friends snuggyhood one and i copied the template onto a fleece blanket and got the sewing machine out!

Tried two of them on two different shaped ponies, both slipped down over their eyes within an hour being stood in the stable, they are probably fine if you attach them to a neck rug but utterly useless on their own....

Yeah starting to regret my words "Oh don't worry it won't be that bad, I can deal with a grey horse" ;)
Ok thanks, I think he would be a M/L as he's a 15h connemara but if I do go ahead I will just check with them.
Boysy thanks, I was a bit worried about them slipping and rubbing his eyes. Were they the stable ones or turnout? If I buy one, it would be the turnout.

Not sure about just the head one, but heard loads of good about the turnout hood, so much so that I've just ordered one in their sale!! Really happy with the communication from them too, emailed them last night and had a reply first thing this morning. So fingers up on that score!!

They are great for communication I had the same query and had a response over night! They advised ML for my 15.2 in a full size bridle, apparently their sizes are generous.

Hey... i dont have the head but a jam hood and turnout hood from them... they are brill :-)!
I have a M/L on my 15hh irish which fits like a glove. My other horse was akward to size, they were happy for me to buy try on and return until got size right. Really friendly helpful people.

I found the turnout hood did slip a bit so contacted them and sent pics for advice and they advised that the strap under his belly needed to be right by his elbow and tighter! (i had it more where girth would sit) Since these simpy changes it hard moves :-) fab products... esp for saving mud and poo stains - true god send for grey horses!!! x

very same happened to me i returned mine.

But I do use the full ears and zip ones all through the winter they are great I do seem to remember that they re adjusted the outdoor hoods and they might of added another strap to them to stop them slipping but I still wouldn't trust them.

I had one on my grey and never had an issue with it. I think because he had such a fat head it didn't slip over his eyes. It was a god send for keeping him clean though :)

I think that is the thing you need a good fit i would ring them and ask measure the head they are very very helpfull and snuggy are the BEST on the market today.

I've never had one before but heard some horror stories about them on here and in RL which has stopped me from getting one.

I've got the world's filthiest grey who also loves rummaging in trees and hedges. I started off with the head which was fine but he was still managing to get mud under his neck cover and all down his neck so I got the hood. It's a god send. He's managed to rip it plenty (I have two and swap them over while I stitch up the holes!) but has never pulled it over his eyes, got stuck or hurt himself. I did try one with a zip but he (or I think probably his friend playing with him) broke it:mad: . Twice:mad::mad:. Within a few days each time :mad::mad:. They took it out and just sewed it up for me and it's been fine since. If yours is 'busy' in the field I'd recommend getting it without the zip.

My other horse, who's much better behaved and totally anti-social so has no friends to play with, has a zip and is fine with it. They are much easier to put on although you develop a method of getting the other one on that suits you and your horse. Mine prefers the quick sharp pull rather than the gather together and ease it on method!

If you sign up to their newsletter they e-mail you their deals and special offers which are quite frequent and save you lots of money. I've never paid full price

I found the head useless, but the full head and neck turnout hood is fantastic. I have two, both with ears and zips and they've never slipped. Sometimes they can get an ear stuck when they rub it out of the ear part, that's all.
