Snuggy hood - static !

I've temporarily given up with my snuggy hoods neck cover due to the very painful zaps me and my horse get when taking it off. My very quiet horse is now quite scared when i need to take it off and I'm not surprised - those zaps bl**dy hurt !
I have tried wetting my hands before removing it, and it is washed regularly with loads of conditioner.
Does anyone else have any ideas as to how to stop the static electricity?

I stopped using mine on my lad for the exact same reason!

I tried using some dream coat to see if that would help, and it didn't stop the zaps but lessened them significantly - I never did sadly find anything to stop them completely apart from simply not using the hood if that's an option for you at all? :(

I have the same issue with the Boett sometimes. I put a rubber mat in the field and stood my mare on that to have it taken off, it helped a lot.

I use fabric conditioner and rarely have an issue - usually it's when it needs washing tbh.

My hoods are zipped and that means I can fold it and lift away from my horse when taking it off. It seems to reduce the zapping potential.

I use copious amounts of conditioner, and they are zipped. 🤷‍♀️😟
