snuggy hood V boet

Boett! My late gelding lived in his and it was fantastic. He wore it for years and years and it still looked good as new, did it's "job" perfectly and he was always happy to wear it. You couldn't tell he had sweetitch when he'd been wearing it, it was brilliant. Their customer service was great too (he'd had one in a previous home & they dug out his files from about 7 years beforehand so we wouldn't have to re-measure him), and it comes with lots of spare bits just incase - not that we ever needed to use them, it was very durable. Really recommend them x

Snuggy hoods for me. Tried both and found both are fab at keeping the midges off, but the Boett rubbed her mane (Haffie with a thick neck and thick, long mane). The shape and material of the Snuggy Hood suits her better than the Boett.

Boett. It's easy to repair (we had hedges we couldn't fence off) and didn't make my lad sweaty or make his tall fall out in clumps unlike the other one ;)

I don't have both to compare but my pony has the snuggy hood and the fit is absolutely perfect, it doesnt move an inch and I'm really pleased with it

I am reasonably new to this as took on a SI pony last year, and after much research & communication with boett I ended up with a DeMeulenkampf as the head piece was slightly smaller & a better fit - he's a mini.

The boett & DeM are very much the same, I think the DeM was started by the original boett people and having seen both they are exactly the same design.

I've been really unhappy with mine, it doesn't fit very well, it pulls back on him and twists round, the neck falls down, the belly straps dig into his back, it rips easily etc etc. I've tried speaking to the supplier & got no response at all - funny because when I was originally enquiring they were sending me regular lengthy emails then as soon as I bought it and asked for some tips in making it more comfortable I got nothing.

Last autumn I bought a snuggy set and they were great to deal with and the rug/hood are a much better fit. He hasn't worn it for any length of time because I bought it at the end of the season so the proof of the pudding will be when I put it on but it certainly seems to be the better option.

I expect it depends very much on the sizing/fit of what you have but if you have a small pony certainly consider the snuggy. I imagine I will be keeping mine in the snuggy & then using the DeM as a spare whilst the snuggy is being washed.

i also have tried all,3 DeMeulenkampf i found was slightly better than boet in the fact it had 3 straps on belly bit and the elastic didn't seem to sag as much, but ponio got his hood off some how and trashed his rug whilst doing it, the snuggy hood seems to be working ok although they do seem to stretch a little round the chest area, but i found the hood bit brilliant as he rubs his ears and it gives total head protection and he cant get it off.
I want to get him a second one but cant decide which to get, thanks for your comments..
still undecided :-/

Boett. Just replaced my shetties two. One was 6 the other 7 years old (rugs not ponies....), so expensive to start with, but eventually worked out very god value for money. I don't have to buy any lotions or potions either!!

I bought a snuggy set last year after having Boetts previously and I'll go back to a Boett next time. The hood on the Snuggy slips over his eye and rubs. I sent it back and it's been altered twice but still not right. When the Snuggy gets wet the material gets heavy and stretches and then the whole thing slips back on him and gives him a bent tail.
I've also had one of the ones sold on ebay by cornerstonebrowbands and they are good value.

Just to throw another one in to the mix my pony also has the Masta set which I really like, it's mire fiddly to fit than the Snuggy but gives good coverage at a really good price
