Hi,
Does anyone have one of these? Am v temped by one, esp because of the udder cover, but they are mega bucks so just wanted some experiences with them first!!
Already have their turnout hood and am impressed by it, but don't have a full rug from them.
Does anyone have one with an udder cover too - does it work/is it good?
Thanks guys!

I wouldn't ever recommend this brand of SI rug again. 3 bald weepy sore and skinless tails later, 'nuff said. :(

Try a barrier cream on the udder.

I have heard lots of good things about them, several friends have the sweet itch hood & rug, fleece hoods, turnout ones etc. BUT I am rather cautious about the hood over their head 24hrs. I have just bought a pagony, which is the cheaper version of the Boett rug for less severe suffers. I was interested because of the sheath cover that Snuggy Hoods offer, but for The Welsh Cobs safety I'd rather slap a load of cream down there :o

Tried every cream (horse and human!) under the sun last year, nothing worked v well with the result that poor mare got totally eaten there and then reacted to the creams - inflamed and red, sore teats - poor girl. That's why I'm after something that will put a barrier there to avoid the lotions etc.
I don't think any of the other brands have an udder cover? If they do though would love to know so that I can compare them?

Think you're right that snuggy are the only ones to do an udder cover. Have you spoken to the vet, as it sound like your poor pony is a very bad sufferer, perhaps worth think about steroid injection

The silly thing is, she isn't the one with sweet itch! She just has v sensitive skin and gets herself in a bit of a bother when she gets them biting her, but the usual creams etc seem to upset her skin - which leaves us rather short of options, hence looking at the snuggy hoods rug!

My little broodie girl is the same, sensitive and seems to attract the flies like honey! I keep her in an amigo bug rug (with the extra long tail flap) and make my own fly repellent with the addition of Avon Skin So Soft in it. I have found that the only thing that she doesnt react to in one way or another is menthol udder cream for cows - this one -

Could the vet suggest anything? x
