Ive searched through and seen a few posts on subject but doesn't answer my specific question.

Fed up with the mud as have a face planter ! also loosing mane from neck rugs so looking to get one of these.

I like the idea of the full face but worried as seen a few posts about them slipping across their eyes, and wondered if the ones without face do actually stay up behind ears .

For those who have can you tell me:

if you had a full face that slipped was it a snuggy one and if you just have a neck one does it stay up high behind the ears as well as mane he loves the mud around his ears.

many thanks

We have a full face and ear one for our swamp donkey and its brilliant, never moved and is invaluable. It is the Snuggy Hood one, and as long as its the right size I've never seen one move.

Wait totally lying, we do have the fly sheet from Snuggy Hoods which doesn't have the full face and stays up well:

I also have the full face ones, but mine are without ears. They have never slipped, but are fitted fairly tight, I would rather it that way. I have the ones with the zips, as I don't like the "pull on" types and they are easy to get on, and the zips don't get caked in mud either.

Not sure I'd go for the faceless one as my pony would still get a huge amount of mud on the face with one of those.

Ask Snuggy Hoods themselves as they are very helpful

Another one with a face planter. Snuggy hoods don't slip. I have the ears and zip and it was worth the extra money. Don't buy the head only ones...they did slip on my horses!

To add ours doesn't have a zip and is pull on, my show pony had a lycra hood with a zip that rubbed badly so it put us off (though it wasn't a snuggy hood one).

I have a snuggy hood full face with and without ears, and the sweet itch one as well and I love them all. None of them slip or move, even when my moronic Welshie drags his headcollar over his ear (has to wear one as he isn't catchable...) the hood stays put. I've used them for years.

I would just add if your horse has a big face it's worth measuring the nose before you buy. They will do adjustments for you. I got the ML for my 14.2 cob (so she hasn't got an enormous face by any means!) and it fitted everywhere except the nose was too tight to be comfortable so I returned it. Excellent customer service however and they gave me a full refund quickly without a quibble.

ours all have the snuggy heads for field and stable. i would say go DOWN a size in the turnout hood, eg Goof has a ML fleece stable head and a M turnout hood, Bruce a L fleece and a ML turnout :)

Same here but with ears - although I cut the eye holes a bit bigger as they were a bit tight round his eye. Have used snuffy hood turnouts on 2 horses now and they have never shifted and are an absolute godsend for those with muddy monsters.

I must admit though I think the horses must find them quite itchy and restrictive - our pony rolls a lot with his on so I always make sure that he gets a good break from them and he doesn't wear it 24/7. My mare didn't mind it though and was happy into 24/7. It was great and saving her mane too!

Def agree with this - the face part comes up quite tight.

I have a full hood and headless hood for B. Day to day, I use headless. I also have an extra head. I use the spik & span body rugs, too. I struggled so badly last winter to keep him clean, but this time round he's gleaming (almost!). Not had any issues with slipping. There is a loop at the top of the headless hoods, not sure if these can be looped over the headpiece of a headcollar for extra security.

My only regret is that I didn't get my Snuggy Hoods sooner, they are amazing.

There was a thread on here asking the same question a couple of years ago, might make interesting reading:

http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?646906-Snuggy-Hoods-Turnout-Heads

To be fair that thread is about the 'heads' not the hoods and most of the comments on there are about the heads not the hoods

I have had the Snuggy turnout head slip but never the full hood. I do now use the headless version though and that stays up very well, you get mud on the face of course but the ponys stay largely clean and just get their faces brushed, personally I think that is less risk than anything covering the face

I think actual Sunggy Hoods are a world apart from the nasty lycra hoods that do slip. Mine have never moved. I lent one to a friend for a while and it was too big for her horse but she tied string between the eyes to be on the safe side but even that stayed in place beautifully.
