This sounds like a daft question but what do people use snuggy hoods for (the fleece ones)? Our pony came with a full head/neck fleece and rug and I'm not really sure what it's for..is it to keep the coat clean before a show etc? Thanks!

I had a sweet itchy horse and used their hoody (without the face part) for my old lad to cover his neck with a turnout rug.

I won't use anything that can come down over the face; having had a bad experience with a lycra hood once where it came right down over the horse's face and they couldn't see, it also had slipped so badly it had come right down over the nostrils and muzzle. Thankfully the horse was just standing in the field and not panicking at all. I'd never ever use a lycra hoody after that. This one wasn't a Snuggy Hoods it was an ordinary lycra one.

Fleece I guess to keep stable stains off and warmth. I don’t use them.
Turnouts I use, I haven’t time to clean up my coloured every day to ride without being embarrsssed at the state of it! I like to turn out first thing before I ride after work so he has one on then. After I ride I turn back out without one and groom in the evening

I'd never again use a snuggy with face cover since a hood slipped on my sweet itch pony and went across his eye and scratched it and needed vet treatment (fortunately recovered)

I use one when my horse is plaited the night before a show, mine stops at the top of the neck. I never trust those that go over the face.

Neck covers on rugs used to rub my pony so he spent a lot of time in hoods of fleece, lycra and turnout types. I found the ones without the face particularly handy. They kept his coat nice and him warmer in winter. The fleece ones specifically are ideal for after bathing in winter and overnight before shows
