Looking at getting my tb a snuggy jams rug. It will be used for both stable and turnout as I tend to keep turnout on at night as on assisted DIY. Just wondering if anyone has the turnout one, with the turnout fabric belly? Does it rub at all and is it comfy? My horse will be in it for 24 hours at times so just trying to figure out if it will be suitable or not.
Thanks :)

My pony has the sweet itch set which is similar if not the same thing

It doesnt rub anywhere and I am really pleased with the fit

The tummy part does extend almost to his sheath though so it gets a bit stained and grubby but they wash really well and a good dollop of fabric conditioner in the wash helps the belly repel water and stains

I use mine to keep my pony clean before shows, and have turned out in it too. So far no problems with it, he seems happy and comfy in it. However I wouldn't turn out in it in wet muddy weather as it would get wet and heavy.

Please please don't use hoods with eye holes. My beautiful angel coblet used to be able to see with both eyes and i'd never had a problem till the first time it slipped. She lost part of her eye and with it her sight and confidence. We've gone from meter ten to 75s and need more physio than ever to correct the ache she develops carrying her head tilted to compensate for it. Please please don't use them. I refered to it as a freaked accident and my vet got cross and said it's a really regular occurance and my mare was lucky some have to be pts as a result.

Spotsrock- I'd never use the hoods, it's the rug I'm after that has no neck. Thanks for the warning though, I have heard many a bad thing about them. Sorry to hear about your mare, must have been awful :(

Welshd and ninjapony- thanks for the advice. The one I'm looking at has a turnout fabric belly, so in guessing its waterproof?! Just wondering if its comfy under the belly and doesn't rub

I'd say hand on heart that I dont think they are massively waterproof but the fabric conditioner trick does work wonders and they dry out very quickly

I think they are pretty true to size so as long as it fits I cant imagine it would rub, the one my pony has doesnt rub at all
