My boy doesn't have sweet itch but does have very sensitive skin (pure bred arab) so I bought him a snuggy sweet itch rug but he hates it.

What would you do? Leave it on him and ignore his protests? Or, think ah well it was worth a try and leave it off?

Pulls faces whenever I adjust it (he doesn't do this when I adjust other rugs) and rolls far more with it on then when its off.

The longest I have left it on him without removing is one week.

Are you sure he rolls far more? I can understand him pulling faces when you put it on if it is fairly new as unlike most rugs it does have to go over the head.

I would be inclined to leave it on him and ignore his protest expect he will soon get used to it good luck

He's fine with over the head rugs as all his stable rugs are american Schneider rugs which go over the head. He's also used to wearing a slicker, which includes a hood which is fitted over the head.

I say that he's rolling more because I have literally seen him rolling several times a day whereas before he wore it I hardly saw him roll.

There is no reason why, if he is fine with other rugs going over the head and all other types of rugs, he should particularly not like this one.

I have one of them and they are particularly difficult to fit and adjust.

These rugs have high coverage and are quite close fitting, so it is possible he is 'feeling' it, and rolling because of that. My boy is still losing winter coat actually, and that is making him roll lots.

If he really hated it then he'd be ripping it off.

My horse is the same she hates the snuggy hoods she started not wanting anyhing on her head, i have changed to a mark todd and she is much better
