Why on earth would you let your old lad be taken on a hack on icy roads (without any leg protection at all) because you didn't want to say no to someone who you'd promised could ride?

Would it not strike you as odd, on a 45 horse yard full of people that hack, that your horse was the only one going on a hack?

Wouldn't the funny shiny white slippy stuff on the side of all the roads just make you THINK???????????

AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH

And breathe.

O dear. Is the horse ok?

Maybe because it didn't look that bad and you thought it would be ok because lots of people ride in the snow and ice at this time of year?

I hope the horse is okay?

I was schooling Andy today and 4 people trotted (quite fast) past us atm the whole county is ice because the snow melted then it rained and froze. We almost crashed going to the yard as it was.

It does make you wonder what is going through someones head?

Sorry guys can't tell you that horse is ok as I was driving off yard as she was hacking out. Did I mention the freezing fog that was coming down?

I'm sure I would have heard if not ok, its just the plain daftness of it - especially as owner was saying how worried she was about it as she watched her old, and not the most sound, lad, trundle down the road.

Roads are lethal, yard an ice rink - shakes head sadly.

Especially as a couple of intrepid liveries had salted/gritted a path to field so we could get them out safely!!!!

The owner has been foolish, but surely whoever is out riding is a few brain cells short as well? :(

Even if someone handed me a fully tacked, fit and sane horse and said "off you go" I wouldn't go out on the roads in this...

The teenagers on the yard near my house have not stopped hacking out in this weather. They have trotted past my house (On a hill) every day.

Idiots.

Same as the person that called me a wimp and a fair weather rider because I didn't want to take my newly broken 4 year old out for his first hack on the roads when it was tipping down with rain!!

That's not being a wimp. That's being sensible! Who'd hack out in the pooring rain unless you had too!:D
