Very mixed emotions with horse today.
I decided today was the day I was going to ride Ned out alone and I was NOT going to be put off!
Well, the blasted animal wouldn't let me get on!! He's usually so good, but I think he knew he was going to be asked to do something scary.
I tried everything I could think of, but he was point blank refusing. I decided we were going to walk out in-hand, then I'd try again when we were out, (Loads of nice fences and raised bits of ground) I thought I might be able to trick him into standing, since he knows the mounting block so well.
He was very forward going (in a good way) when I was leading him and only stopped once to have a look in the ford before he got his toes wet.
He still wasn't playing ball and I was starting to get cross. I managed to calm us both down and we sat for a short while, while he ate some grass.
I finally decided enough was enough and I was going to get on. Thankfully he saw something in the distance and this distracted him long enough for me to hop on!!
Defeated!! Haha!
He stood very nicely while I got settled. And we were off! He was fantastic! We had a couple of wobbles, but no real spooks. There was a tense moment when we walked past 2 pheasants, who looked like they wanted to fly, but thankfully, they restrained themselves!
It was only a very little walk, but this is the first time Ned had ever been out of the yard totally alone!!!
I'm so so so proud of him <3
Though, we're going to have a serious mounting session soon, stupid horse XD
