As some of you may be aware we have had problems concerning my sisters pony's owner and the welfare of her horses for a while now and have come very, very close to reporting her in the past. However, due to the threats she makes us regarding my sisters pony (a bullet in his head) mum won't allow me to report her

Friend came up this morning and informs us that this person, who seems unable to provide basic care to her own horses has now, with her 16 yr old daughter, taken a job as an animal/horse welface officer

Surely thats taking the P***! Friend had heard rumours regarding this persons horses so knowing our connection to her felt we ought to be aware however we do not know which organisation it is with.

And to top it all off, went up to see sisters pony and they have about 1/2 of filthy water in the water trough (which we are not allowed to refil

) and the horses are standing by it clearly thirsty. Came home fuming and mum has now conviscated my phone as I was ready to report her there and then - this isn't a once off, it happens a lot! - but mum says our friend is going to notify someone (probably ILPH) later this week. With the weather as hot as it it someone needs to be notified asap

Very sad, very angry and very dissapointed that this woman is now responsible for other animals welfare when she cannot even address that of her own horses.

Filthy in what way - our tank gets very 'green' coloured and my daughters horse loves the extra flavour preferring that to her nice clean stable water.

They all drink it but she insists on being first in the queue when they get turned out and goes straight to it.

Pony is on loan to us and is kept on her yard with her other 4 horses. We got told to never, ever refill the water again after we did it last summer as it "wastes water".

Filthy in a way that the only water there is the slugey dregs of mud in a runny, watery form rather than actual water. And tbh, even if it was clean I feel that 1/2 inch is hardly sufficient for 5 horses in this heat.

Yep, we pay everything for sisters pony bills wise otherwise he wouldn't be fed/wormed/shod/vaccinated etc. ETS, other than the fact he clealry has lice (because his owner won't get on top of the problem with the other 4) he is the only one in a good condition, if anything a little too well conditioned as we are not allowed to graze him separetly or put a grazing muzzle on him and we are not allowed to keep him elsewhere - we are in the process of trying to end the loan but she has a bullet to our heads in that when we nolonger care for him she is very likely to kill him

I would just refill the water....better she moans at you and you have to put up with her rantings than the poor horses get dehydrated. Put a bit in when she's not looking!

Steady on, 1/2" isnt sufficient water for a field of horses, however your opening post forgot to add the 'inch' bit and it read like 1/2 a tank!

Sorry, hadn't realised I missed off the "inch" bit. My mistake.

Well the woman sounds like a fool and I dont blame you for being angry. Going by the horse skills of my local RSPCA she sounds perfectly qualified for a job with them

Wont she part with pony?

All of this is quite clearly disturbing......I would buy some of those tubs with handles and put a few of those out with water as you cannot leave horses without any water........and if your asked why then quite firmly say that this way the water can be reused in stables and so on as mobile to move!

This has made me so angry as well, but it really is no good to tell others about it. We cannot measure how bad the situation is from what you write. Clearly if it bothers you so much-report them-you dont have to give your name.

If the horses only have 1/2 inch of water then that is truely apalling, humans can quite simply turn on a tap if they are thirsty.Poor horses.

Aw, sounds a really horrible situation!

First try and find out what welfare organisiation the lady is working for, and then wring a different one anonymously. If you have a small, local sanctuary, contact them, and they'll pass it on to the ILPH or RSPCA if they think it's bad enough. Also mention that she's just got a job as a welfare officer, and explain about her threats.

Have just been up and have refilled the trough (tried with a large bucket but they drank it in about 1/2 a min). Will just have to face the consequences tomorrow if she has a problem with it.

Also in the process of contacting the appropriate authorities.
