I recently purchased a 6' Mark Todd JHL fly rug from an ebay shop. It arrived in a bag stating 6', I opened it and it had one label saying 6' then two sewn in to the rug saying 5'9" so I measured the rug only to find it actually measured 5'6".
I told the shop that I didn't want a replacement as I needed a rug quickly and did not want to risk another error. I was told to return the item and that the return postage would be refunded as per their returns policy. The policy stated that if an item was deemed defective return postage would be refunded. I received a refund for the rug but not the postage so I opened a case with ebay but they ruled in favour of the seller and closed the case. I have just tried to leave negative feedback and ebay have removed it! What is the point in feedback if negative feedback is removed???!

Was it defective though? I would say not, it was the wrong size. Had it had no buckles, that would've been defective.

Of course you can't leave negative feedback if ebay decide you were wrong. How would that be fair? They have a dispute policy one way or the other, listen to both sides and make a decision, it would be awful if then, because of what ebay decided, you could then slate the seller.

Not saying ebay made the right or wrong decision in the case but not being able to leave negative feed back I think is fair.

The negative feedback removal was wrong as you should be allowed to say how you felt the transaction was but i dont think you shouldve been refunded postage. They still had to post you it, and very few places will refund postage. If you had had it swapped then maybe they would give free postage on the second rug. Thats life im afraid, they still had to pay the postman.

They sent the wrong size so I agree they should have refunded your postage. I had a similar problem when I was sent a full rather than cob bridle - in that case the seller was good and refunded the postage and dispatched the right size very quickly.

Surely the fact that it had labels stating two different sizes none of which were correct for the rug makes it defective? Had I wanted a 5'6" rug I would have ordered that size but as it was my horse is 6' so the rug wasn't suitable. If I had accepted a replacement I would still have had to pay the postage and I would have had to wait for them to receive the returned rug before they sent it. It was their mistake so why am I out of pocket but they aren't? They stipulated the method of return so it cost just under £10. They were very abrupt in their communication and very slow to respond. My feedback was fair- I put it was wrong size but they refused to pay return postage and communication was poor, surely customers should be allowed to know what to expect from the company??

Of course they should refund postage if they sent the wrong rug out! It's their own fault if they paid postage sending the wrong thing, not the sellers, they should eat the cost!
