I was really looking forward to the eventers challenge at ardingly. I only did the 2'6 cos it was our first proper comp back.
He absolutely stormed round, jumped everything really well, we were fast and clear until fence 16 when Harleys stupid mother pointed him at the wrong fence so we got eliminated

I think I am extra disappointed cos I used my xmas money to enter and I can't afford to do any more so I feel I have squandered my only chance for some fun.
On the bright side tho he went really well, was fast but controllable and I felt like we had our partnership back ( have felt a bit less confident after baby but we were really positive today

Just feeling a bit sorry for myself

Thanks to anyone who's read it all

Hi, so sorry it didn't go as planned. Was going to post about how pleased I was with my boy, I did the 2'6" as well, but that might make you feel worse. To be fair, it was a long, complicated course, it's hard to win anyway. My friend did the same thing, I thought it was mean to eliminate a wrong as it was so twisty. Sounds as though your horse went really well and you did most of it, so well done! I was thrilled just to get round with one down.

Ah, we've all done it - most of the E's on my BE record are from jumping the wrong flipping fence XC!

At least you had fun, that's the point after all!

oh were you there as well. Would liked to have met some fellow hho'ers:))
I think I might aim for 27apr horse trials next. I have never done a ode b4 and I really fancy having a go

so did you get placed then?

I will say Hi next time, I'm a much older lady and most competitors seem very young to me!! I still have fun at riding club level tho! I have a 16.2hh grey and belong to Ardingly RC. I don't think I got placed, had to get back so not sure. I did the ODE last year and have helped loads of times, it's really good fun and well organised. Last year I did the starter one, only bought my horse 6 months before, he went brilliantly and was leading until the last XC fence, the water and I got eliminated!! Hero to zero in 1 minute!!! Maybe see you in April?

oh, you must have been gutted! Horses are such a great leveller!
Did you go at about 12ish? Just before another smaller grey?
def going in April so we can say hi then

But you did have fun though! Just no rosette, but not because you rode badly or he jumped badly, just a daft mistake (that we ALL make from time to time).
Doesn't matter about the rossie, you were pleased with him and enjoyed your round, so it WAS worth it

It was very embarrasing, had to go to the princess royal with a suspected broken femur! I'm fine though just have a even bigger than normal thigh! with a dent in it.

Felt like a right idiot, i've been doing BN with my boy no problem but he is a baby and just didn't like the viaduct wall.

oh god, you poor thing. Hope you are feeling ok now! You must have been after me then cos I missed all that. I went at 1219...
The viaduct catches out loads or people doesn't it! Hopefully see you out and about soon, he is the chestnut isn't he? With a white blaze?
