As some of you will know, when I bought my boy Sherman 4 months ago he was horribly hairy and was just permanently sweaty, but would not let a set of clippers within 6 feet of him, and I mean that literally! So on advice from vet and YO I had him doped by vet and did it that way. As this is a big issue, and he is going to need clipping a lot to keep his feathers and everything under control, I asked for advice on here as I didn't want to have to consider doping him every single time because it just isn't practical, is it? So - I started by leaving the clippers running, sitting on the stable wall every single time I brought him in, I didnt tie him up. I was able to progress to touching him with them when they were switched off, and eventually this week was able to touch his neck and shoulder with them running, while he was eating. And so, today, with the help of a likit, a massive bucket of food and my very best friend, I managed to hog him and to clip his front legs out! Ok, so he looks a bit weird with his back feathers still on, but thats not the point, I didnt even have to twitch him! Such a good boy, so I decided to stop before putting him under too much pressure, and hopefully will do his back legs in a couple of days, but the point is, its taken me less than 3 weeks to get to this point, so thanks to everybody who took the time and trouble to give me advice, we are both very grateful! Sorry this has been a bit long, but I am definitely chuffed!!!!!!!!

well done
