So dissapointed to see this :(

Don't get why a Parelli trained horse can't cope in a 'normal' home - I have done Parelli level 3 with mine which if you aren't into it means up to bridle less riding. She coped perfectly well on loan to an excellent BHS riding school. We also have classical dressage lessons. Also don't get that 'Parelli people don't ride' - all the Parelli people I know ride and generally quite well - my instructor could compete bd medium (doesn't teach me dressage as I have someone else) but at least well enough to do a respectable prelim or novice and sponsored rides. We all have happy confident horses and the most you can be is responsible for your own horse.
 
I used to ride my old pony as an 8yo bridle-less, saddle-less, hat-less. I could actually leapfrog on his back. I know, I was ace. Does that make me a level 4?
 
Tallyho, i agree, i used to ride bareback up a field with a leadrope as a neck strap, sometimes leading others, used to jump bareback in a headcollar the only difference is it didnt cost me thousands i just did it, same as most who rode as youngsters id say.
 
I still ride mine bridleless, in the field, school, track etc. In fact, many years ago I once took my old lad out for a hack completely tackless, in the moonlight, down the bridleway and jumped all the xc jumps. Does that make me Level 5 or was it just the stupidity of youth? :D

Me too for level 4 then. It wasn't unusual when I was young, long time ago though. As a kid I just messed around as I wanted. Always fancied myself as a Red Indian or Roy Rogers etc. Good grief I'm old:)
 
When I opened the link, at first I failed to see what Marydoll was trying to get across... then the names Pat and Linda which were highlighted came to my attention.... Yep, the 'experts' are out to give everyone's horse a wedgy.. :rolleyes:
I've always had my doubts about their technique, and when that poor horse who didn't like bridles was so visibly abused in that video, my doubts were confirmed..
 
O Brother Where Art Though..... I may have made level 4 in the 70's/80's and wanted to be Annie Oakley but I wouldn't have sold my soul to the Devil !

I feel a bit let down by trainers that I've respected for years, read and studied their work, to have them buy into this machine called Parelli. Surely they've done their research, like we all have, and know what this involves. Why would they associate themselves with it?
 
Please can this come back to the original subject, yes the parellis are involved but in the main its why would 2 classical masters want to be involved with this whole shebang ? Anyone any more thoughts ? surely they must be aware of the same stuff we are, how on earth can the 2 be compatable or interlinked
 
Money and fame, pure and simple. It happens in every industry that's under the public eye. You see artistes of the highest calibre lowering their standards and jumping on the freight train of those we see as morally wrong (parelli, cowell as examples). The question is will any good come out of it ? I doubt it but 'showbiz', which is what this is, has changed for the worst.
