Henry seemed to regress by several months this morning on our walk

He went totally deaf, charged all the way across the field, straight past me, to jump on another dog on a lead which was miles away - I had to go and tackle him. So humiliating

I could cry!

I don't know what on earth has got into him, but he has really got me down this morning - just gone totally deaf, no interest in coming back, so I put him on the lead and got him to do some sit and down stays which he did really well - left the lead on but I walked a long distance away and he was fine. As soon as the lead came off he was off again though, had to go and catch him again and put him back on the lead

It's so demoralising, I have been so pleased with how he's been behaving recently but he has really gone backwards this morning

Oh Rocking-robin, I really feel for you. You may remember I posted last week about Skye who ran off, just when I thought she was making progress. Bloomin' dogs. I'm sure they plan these episodes to keep us on our toes. (sorry, no pun intended in light of your current injury)
This week she has been back to her brilliant self, thank goodness, but I'm not letting myself get a false sense of security about it.
Have a glass of wine or two on me.

Otto does this to me all the time! I've learnt to put it down to experiance and give up on those days. Otherwise I get really frustrated, he picks up on it and gets worse.

Tomorrow's another day and all that jazz!

Just be thankful he has made enough progress that you notice when he has bad days! And I bet that even when he was naughty this morning, he still wasn't as bad as when you first got him. Would he have done sit and down stays whilst you left him before? Focus on the positives!

You are all right

Hen, I was getting so frustrated with him which made it much much worse, the little sodbag

Will get the long line out at lunchtime and see how we get on. I've never needed it at our morning walk spot - it was only really ever meant to stop him from running into the fields at work but I think I'll use it tomorrow morning as well and see how he goes.

Goya - I'm glad Skye is behaving again, it is so scary when they suddenly lose it isn't it! Henry went shoting off towards a road this morning as well, almost gave me heart failure

Which was the point where it went wrong I think, because I screamed at him to come back, (it's a tiny rural lane but you know how people bucket around them!) and I think that's what put him back.

Onwards and upwards! The little sod is currently on his lead under my desk, and we did do an extremely disciplined entry into the building (sits and waits before EVERY door and no charging up the spiral stairs which is his favourite game) and he did very well. Fingers crossed for lunchtime!

Naughty Henry!!
