I had my sindy horses, I had four of varying colours and the black one my dad painted white bits on so it was piebald :-) I also had a bright bay one that had a moving neck so it could graze, unfortunately my brothers put it in the bath and it's head would never stay up after that :-( I used to get them doing badminton over books! Unfortunately sindy never had a very good position and fell off alot.

I also had a brittons toy riding school which I adored, it had stables/fields and I think it had a ménage too.

I wish I was a kid again xx

:o I had a HUGE (well huge to me then) donkey called Manuel!! I bought him in Spain on holiday and my parents said as long as I carried him on my knee the whole way home then I could have him!! He was made of plastic and furry material with a hat on, he was big enough for me to sit on him so he became my 'horse'. I'm 42 now and Manuel has been recovered twice, and lost his eyes but he still is kept at my parents house and my nieces and newphews have all enjoyed playing horses on him.

On a side my mum bought me my horse for my 36th birthday present, we'd had a running joke as a kid that I wanted a rocking horse and every birthday and christmas I'd ask where it was, but they never could afford to buy me one. So on my 36th Birthday she gave me a card with a rocking horse on the front and inside it said now we can afford to buy you your rocking horse, but this one is living and breathing. I still joke to them when he's very naughty that their rocking horse is trying to kill me!!!:D

I loved Manuel and he was a great pretend horse but nothing beats the real thing.

A very beautiful Sindy horse like this

http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:9,s:12&biw=1002&bih=599

now I have the real thing ;) except it's less well behaved and costs too much!

The worrying thing is, you can buy tack just like that off ebay, cheap plastic looking stuff in the same colour.

and I used to love toy cars (matchbox types) I had a 4x4 with horse trailer and some plastic horses that went in the back....oh those were the days!

:o:D:o

I had some My Little Ponies but I thought they were stupid and unrealistic! I always wanted some Breyer horses. When I went to my friend's house we played with her sister's and I loved them. I think she used to customise them and enter them in photo competitions!

I had another type of horse toy which you could get accessories for; jumps etc. Can't remember what they were called but I still have one, He's bay and I painted him a white sock and blaze using Tip Ex :-)

I had a huge rocking Horse, we never named it. My older cousins all decided to see how many people they could get on it at one go and it broke :( I remember I didn't stop crying for days :o

I also had Barbie and her Palomino Horse, I didn't actually play with the barbie though, I used to make her sit on my toy alligator instead.

I LOVED My Little Ponies, I had nearly the whole set but then I stopped collecting them when I was 12. I always used to play with them but was disapointed that the Megan doll I had, didn't have the jeans and western boots that she had on in the cartoon, she only had a white and pink dress which wasn't really suitable for all the riding I wanted her to do, LOL!

My sis and I had Sindy horses too but they were kind of annoying as they didn't move their legs especially since we wanted them to "jump" Olympic fences.

My other FAV horse toy I had was an old 1970's Barbie horse called Dancer. I got her in 1981 or 1982 from a Church sale so she was already 2nd hand by then but she had movable legs and did everything from dressage, jumping and even high stepping saddle seat riding!! Her leg broke off at one point so I taped a pencil to a leg and bound it with black electrical tape in a "ground breaking operation" that my Barbie performed so she wouldn't have to be "put down", LOL.

I found this website that has photos of Dancer:

I even had a pink Barbie side saddle for Dancer too. I got a black felt tip and colored it black as a kid to make it more "realistic". I found this photo of the pink side saddle but I didn't have the Prancer, I don't know how I managed to get the side saddle without the horse though!

I still had Dancer and the side saddle until 2000 when I moved to the UK and then my mum sold them at a garage sale. I was so upset as I wanted to keep those!

I had the Sindy horse with the red rug (scroll down) http://www.midlandmemorabilia.co.uk/DOLLS.htm

I think I called him something like Chocolate, and I made him a new bridle from ribbon (with extra-long reins), and used to sit with him between my knees, and hack around the bedroom. I also built him a stable between two cupboards, with a door made from a book. No turnout though. Naughty me:p

I also had a palomino Barbie horse, never liked her as much as unlike the Sindy horse, her mouth was closed so I couldn't get a bit in. I was obviously a very traditional child;)

I had all sorts. Apart from 2 very real section A ponies i had a black rocking horse called Troy, who never seemed to have a tail! millions of my little ponies and several Sindy horses. I seem to remember putting an old felt saddle on the dog as well. God I was obsessed!!

I used to have the palamino cowboy horse like Double-choc-lab but it really annoyed me that he had western tack and a slightly wonky front leg. I loved my Britains show jumpers that came with tiny bridle and saddles with stirrups but they broke really easily. I think I re-lived my childhood when I had my daughter as she had MLP's, a soft toy called Starliight which was the Rainbow Brite horse and Julips horses. I loved making small saddles, tack and rugs for the Julips which she still has. She also had some horses for a doll called Carrie which came with loads of tack and stable equipment. The poor girl was doomed to grow up horsey.

I was looking through my old toys the other day and the predominance of horses is obvious.

As well as my rocking horse (see prev thread) I had:

More horses for my toy farm than all the other animals added together.

Barbie horses, sindy horses, cheap replicas of barbie and sindy horses...

A donkey.

Model horses with velveteen coats.

Hobby horses.

Cuddly toy horses.

My mums old palomino barbie horse. I made him a new saddle and bridle out of some leatherette material. I also made him rugs and numnahs and bandages. My grandma has proudly kept his entire wardrobe and reminds me that his rug was made out of the leftover material from my own horse.

I never had any horsey bedding though :( or a real pony for that matter!!

I had MLPs when very young, and then moved onto Julip Horses, only had three of them and they had to be "earnt" - I think things like doing well in exams at school, getting a swimming badge etc, haha!
I'm always having "words" with myself and saying I should sell them on, Julips (mine are almost vintage now!) make good money on ebay, which could be well spent on the real things, but I'm a softie (okay, I'm a hoarder....)

I did have a lovely black sindy horse but it had horrible light tan tack , even then i knew it looked rank, not matchy matchy at all

being a bit of a book worm i adored all my horse books especially the jinny at finmory series by patricia leitch and the jill story books - i was heartbroken when i was sent to boarding school and my mum took them all to a jumble sale :mad:

Just remembered I also had a mini show jumping course - suitable for Julip sized horses. You had individual poles, planks and wings and could adjust the height. Used "betta builder" (poor mans lego) to make walls.

Were the Britains show jumpers the ones that came fixed jumping over a gate or wall and were about 6 inches high? If so, I had those also and also remember broken stirrups.

I had a dappled grey Sindy horse which we named the Stallion. He pulled a gig. I also had a bay SIndy horse (the Mare) with a moving neck and riding tack. My little sister was jealous when I got it for my birthday and threw it across my Nana's living room, breaking it's head off! We had to glue it back on!!! I had the matching foal for the bay horse, he came with a yellow rug. My sister had Barbie Dallas the palomino with poseable legs - it always fell over though. And she had a grey called Prancer with ridiculous pink tack (yuck). And we had a palomino foal.

Sindy and Barbie and all their friends used to showjump over upturned ladybird books. We also had a range rover but no trailer so we used the trailer part of the toy trailer tent!

The Stallion used to regularly mount the mares and produce the foals as offspring!!!! My mum caught us playng this game once and was horrified!!

In addition to this were tons of My Little Ponies, SHe-ra's horse, Britains horses, and I think a Julip maybe?

I never did get a real life pony, despite me asking for one every xmas and birthday. Not until I was 30 and I had to pay for him myself!!!! my parents always say he looks like the Barbie horse!

I used to have a nic, little herd of barbie sized horses. One big roan coloured one with a cart, 2 palominos, a chestnut mare and foal, a grey that moved its legs, a black and a skewbald.

Also had about 20 MLPs.
My beautiful horses - I had the horsebox and the stable for these - and also pony in my pocket.

I also had a stable yard that had a small arena, a hay shed, tack room, 2 stables and it opened up - there was also a room for the doll. I think it was called Appletree Stables or Amys Pony Tales or something.

Used to spend hours shut away in my room being antisocial and playing!

I had a dark bay Sindy horse, a "black" Pippa pony, and Anna and Happytime.

I still have Anna and Happytime somewhere in the house, I refuse to part with it willingly, on grounds I had to "fight" so hard to get it in the first place!!

Wow, I never remember Sindy being so ..... ugly!! I loved my Sindy stuff. I used to "finger knit" bridles and martingales for my lovely bay horse. I'm sure it's probably still in my parents attic.

Oh god! I thought I was the only person to have Anna and Happytime. No one else my age knows what on earth I am talking about when I wax lyrical about them. And yes, I still have mine too.

I had the sindy horse with the cheap tan plastic tack, I used to tie the saddle round our yorkshire terriers back and tie sindy onto it then chase him round the living room table, she always feel off and the dog usually ran off with her in his mouth, much to my annoyance !

I had the spanish donkey which my aunt bought me back from spain (he's still in my loft now) his name was pedro and my brother made him a medalion with his name on in metalwork at school, it still hangs on his bridle, he also had a lovely felt saddle pad on, his legs are a bit wonkey as he wern't very strong and his back was only short but i always rode him :-)

I also had a china palamino horse about the size of a sindy horse, another gift from an aunt, but I used him to chase around the living room with and broke his leg so he was then retired with permenant lameness and sellotape round his leg but was a great field ornament :-)

Long long ago before Sindy had been thought of, I started infant school, where they had the most beautiful dapple grey rocking horse. That's what started my love of horses and I wanted him all for myself. I'm sure I had to be prised off him. Anyway, rocking horses cost a lot of money and my parents couldn't afford one...............

I made my own toys, by cutting out the horses pictured in my Pony magazine, and I used to play with those.

I think so. I can't find any photos only this set which has the horses at least. I would have loved this set but just made my own jumps. http://www.1818auctioneers.co.uk/sa...tic-show-jumping-set-No-7594-in-original-box/. My hoses all lived on my plastic farm and I had shires and a suffolk punch type too.

heehee! I knew a girl at school who had them - and she wasn't particularly horsey! I finally got mine when I told my mother about it...

I played with mine so much the horse's leg fell off, but my Da was able to fix it.. then horse's tail fell out, so I cracked him open and gave him a new tail.

I didn't get any of the accessories for them, mother was in such a huff at having to give in and buy me the doll that was the end of it for her!

Apart from my Shetland pony i had and loved (still do!!) My Little Pony....I had the lot, all the ponies, the Dream Castle, Grooming Parlor, Stables, clothes (cute little shoes) even had the ponies the had wings, baby ponies that came with a nappy!!!
I collected and swapped the stickers and still have the complete album!! I went to watch the movie at the pictures and even wanted to call my first little girl Megan after the girl in the film...I'm so sad!!!

Also had a Sindy horse and carriage and a couple a Barbie polo ponies!!!

I had a rocking horse called Norman!!

Like someone else put earlier i also had a massive straw donkey from Spain...it has a sombrero, a felt saddle but back in the day before H&S it was full of pins holding it together!!!
