So we left the party early last night in order to be up early today for Adrian's 1st dressage comp.

Up early, bathed him (grey), plaited, got a nice clean saddle cloth, etc, loaded, off we went. All was good til we got within 10 miles of the venue, then the road was closed for repair. The diversion went onto a housing estate & petered out. There was another diversion nearly in connection with Stanstead & the signs were the same so we also got entangled with that one & went miles out of our way. Tried telling TomTom that there was a road block & it said there was no alternative route. Tried heading north for a bit in the hope that TomTom would come up with something sensible & it didn't. Had brought a backup map of the venue just in case but it wasn't at all helpful.

In the end, after an hour of trying to get around the roadblock, including nearly getting wedged in a country lane, we had to give up & go home. 3 1/4 hours of driving for absolutely nothing, and all that prep down the toilet. Unplaited & turned poor Adrian out. It's his b'day today & he's 5, & all he got was a long trip in the lorry.

I could really sit & cry, esp after driving an hour to my dr lesson yest & the instructor didn't turn up, then after we got back found that he'd texted a message to the landline & just assumed I'd got it.

Anyone had a worse w'end???

Also why hadn't the organisers done something, extra signs or something to help you; sounds like they couldn't be bothered, surely you want competitors to actually get to you?! Sorry you had a cr** day.

How horrid for you. At least you can look forward to the next trip out as it couldn`t be any worse. Chin up.

Especially after the let down with the lesson.

Frustrated? I'd be seething - how absolutely awful for you. I'm livid on your behalf but as others have said - it can't get any worse I'm sure so roll on the next time!

That's dreadful, and I would be ringing the Highways Agency first thing tomorrow to complain.
It's always iffy being diverted when towing or driving a box, but to have the signs peter out is unforgivable.
So sorry after all that effort to go home again... Hugs, you deserve them!

oooooh no, poor you!!! There is dressage next weekend at Manor Farm EC..... I might be going but later in the day for the higher level tests.... fancy a trip out then?
