As title says, Gaynor (the well known horse communicator) is coming to see my spanish horse Hermoso this Saturday....eeeeeeeeeeeek :)

I am a bit worried, mainly because he had a horrid life when he was in Spain  and I bought him as a remedial horse. So I hope I don't get too upset.

I have actually just found out a few days ago (although I 'knew' already as it is very obvious if you know him) he was beaten and starved by the owner before the one I purchased him from . I know this because I am currently looking to buy another spanish horse and an agent I was talking to happens to know of the group of horses that the guy I bought him from rescued. So she filled me in with the detail. Was so upestting for me, I think because I 'know' it happened now makes it more sad than just thinking that's what happened.

Anyway, I have owned him for 3 years in June and he is now a very happy horse now :). He has come on leaps and bounds in this time and will no longer sit on the ground when putting a rug on :D or collapse in a shaking heap at the sight of a farrier

Has anyone had any experiences of Gaynor? good / bad? would be interesting to know your thoughts?

Here is a photo of him, he is such a sweet boy :)

I had her out for one of my horses a few years ago, I was very sceptical and I'm afraid my opinion didn't change after her visit, I wouldn't use her again. Your horse looks lovely and I hope you get more from her visit than I did!

Bet I could do I spot on cold reading for you just on that post alone.

Its a load of tosh, your horse is healthy and happy... do you need to know more?!

Oh dear not many good comments.

The reason I want her to see him is so I can hopefully get some feedback from him with regards to NOW (not his past). Whether he is happy etc... He is still a VERY difficult ride and has some days more stressy than others and it would be good to know what he is feeling.

He never got on with the first 3 riders, he ended up panic bolting and all ended up on the floor often. However he is now on schooling livery (and has been with them for 9 months now) and he is very happy with his current rider. Don't get me wrong he is not easy for her and far from it BUT he has never put a hoof wrong with her.

I had her out many years ago and it was a very long time before anything was posted on the internet about my mare. I was also very careful to give no information away. Before anyone says its just a stupid waste of money (yes Gaynor is expensive, but she was travelling several hundred miles each way to see me) but every vet was telling me my horse was untreatable and should be put down or kept just as a pet, so I was desperate enough to fork out. Gaynor correctly said that my mare's problem was down to her hormones - 4 years later this was proved to be so, despite some of the top vets in the country saying it wasn't possible, and also said she had had alot of owners and a pretty rough life. I could very well believe this as my mare was very strong willed, liable to just gallop off when it suited her, included while being mounted, and had zero brakes. To handle though she was a lamb, a real jekyll and hyde character which I have no doubt would have put the fear of God up alot of people. She also had a good collection of whip marks on her left flank, wasn't used to being fed regularly and was a stresshead. Gaynor may well try to sell you some herbs, but if you don't want them then say so. At the end of the day, she is a business woman, and what business doesn't try to get you to part with some more money?

I hope you get some answers - good luck.

Thanks for your post, very interesting.

I have also received private messages from others with their success stories with Gaynor.

Fingers crossed it goes well.

Will you be able to record the visit on your phone ? It sometimes helps to listen again. I had another communicator talk to one of mine and still not sure about it all. My son was sat beside me and said afterwards about the mare not liking wearing just any headcollar. We argued for days wether she said that or not or was my son picking something up. She does now have her own headcollar and is much easier to be caught. Who knows how much of that is us treating her differently and expecting her to behave .
Will look forward to hearing what she has to say I am always curious. Good luck

I would suggest you search her name on this forum as this subject has come up before. I used her with a horse that had absolutely no history that I knew of. Since people do not ask Gaynor to come and give her a 'reading' if everything is OK she is on a winner before she even opens her mouth; mares always have hormone problems, difficult horses often have a series of homes, bad dealer experiences, or transport issues. Even I could guess and watch your reaction to see if I am on the right lines. If, on the other hand you know what has happened to your horse, and when he started behaving in a certain way, then I think you are as likely to be able to supply a suitable story and answer. Even if you get a story from her, how will that change what you are doing now?
We all want a simple plan to follow to 'heal' our horses but sadly life isn't like that when you are dealing with a horse. You would be far better saving what will be a great deal of money and buying some helpful books - Super one just out is 'Understanding your horse's emotions' by Larry Bensusan £18.99 or even, if you are not too far away then contact him, just google his name ( works with Piggy French and others) and get him to visit.
I don't want to be a party pooper as I was in the same position as you many years ago but nothing she said helped, quite the opposite as it was so depressing, and may or may not have been right. She also did a naughty double charging on her mileage and it was very much more than the fee she had quoted me. So be warned. Ask before you start what her travel expeneses are! Good luck.

Good luck with the communication. I haven't used her but have used a couple of others with brilliant results. My WB was nearly PTS, but with the use of a communication and a couple of other complimentary therapies I knew what was wrong with him before he went to Newmarket to Sue Dyson's lameness clinic. That took a week for him to be diagnosed there and nearly £4,000. The communication and 2 other therapies cost less than £100. So yes I believe and only had to send him to Newmarket for insurance purposes. I got LOU on my horse :(

I have heard that her travel expenses are pretty exhorbitant too, so good advice to check and get this confirmed in advance.

My mare's hormone problem wasn't anything conventional - it caused her to have epileptic fits. As I said, this was still being refuted by vets as recently as 3 years ago and Gaynor met my horse 16 years ago when vets were adamant that horses couldn't have epilepsy full stop. The general conclusion was that she had a brain problem.

Agree with all this. I had her out and it was £258 and quite honestly a complete waste of money. I certainly would not bother again. You would be better spending the money on a good trainer if you need help.

Personally I would invest that sort of money in a decent trainer. You already know a lot of your boys history, so why pay an exhorbitant fee for a "communicator" to tell you what you already know?

Haven't read this thread in its entirety but interested to know how things went with Gaynor. I spent - no, WASTED - a small fortune on Gaynor a couple of years ago with two of our horses. Complete rubbish, upset my daughter by telling her that one of her horses would be happier in a hunting home (daughter hunts and would have loved to have hunted this horse but for the problems she'd been having with him!), and we learnt NOTHING we didn't already know about our horses. Seriously, seriously a waste of money!!!! Lots of money - over £400, if I remember!

Ive seen Gaynor doing a 'reading' for a friends horse as a demo. She was excellent!! ....at 'reading' my friend that is. A real art though- she would say something vagueish and then really picked up on friend's body language and cues from facial expressions despite friend trying to stay neutral. She said that horses issues were due to a foaling incident and to be fair to her she even had a shot at telling horses age too...was impressive when the age was wrong as she just kept changing her answer and then sort of implied she had said that all along.

Very impresive to watch but I am glad that I wsnt paying!!:p

That's how psychics work isn't it? Very clever, but naughty playing on the gullible.

I've seen 'back people' working in a similar fashion: "now you can see him walking much looser can't you?" Erm, no!
