Just to say that I am so glad the saddle fitter came out today!
She started off by looking at my 2 saddles, and after a bit of fiddling we decided that the jumping saddle looked good, just I'd been putting it on slightly too far forward as I'm not used to his silly giraffe neck and withers
Then looked at the dressage saddle, again not bad, but really too wide... (even though supposedly, they had the same plate in
)
So, she was going to change the gullet in the Dressage to see what it looked like (bates saddles) ... only she unscrewed it to find that the tree point was BROKEN
Also, the supposed 'medium' plate was rusted through and now the equivalent of extra wide or wider...
Gullet was last checked/changed in about Oct/November, so it obviously broke between then, probably due to the pressure of the gullet stretching as the saddle isn't marked at all... but it's been doing the poor pony no favours!
Anyway, all off to be checked & fixed now. We're pretty certain that it IS NOT a Wintec gullet, as it did come with the saddle (was definitely the same width as Wintec Medium gullet then though as I checked!) but we'll see....
But a lot happier now it's done, and I guess it's cheaper to have a saddle fixed than buy new!
Milkshake (any flavour!
) if you read through that
