Long post warning ha ha

So I volunteer for Scottish Staffie rescue and we acquired another Staffie 5 months ago, she was a sorry soul and we had rehomed her and it did not work out, and because I removed her from the original house and seen state of her and conditions she was kept in I felt so so sorry for her and annoyed my husband to let us keep her which we did.

Anyway we could not let her off lead, zero recall just bolted - that's what 5 years locked in a kitchen does, anyway that's a whole other story.

I've worked months with her, taking her to puppy classes - she is 6 lol, trying her in enclosed indoor school to practise recall, long lines you name it nothing worked, you shout her name but it does not register, it's like when outside she is so overcome by it she can't hear you yet inside she responds fine. Anyway we kept at it then the other week it's like a switch flipped and she suddenly responds and comes to you so we braved her off the lead in a woods miles away from anything and she never ran away. So the other day we took her to beach and let her off and I swear down - she was in doggy heaven..! Running free with our other two dogs , always felt bad for her never getting off lead as she so desperately wanted to join in with the others and be a real dog..

I honestly shed a tear, to see her so happy pulled on my heart strings. From being starved and locked in a small area covered in urine and poop 24/7 never seeing daylight , and used as a puppy factory to running free on the beach on a warm autumn morning with the sun in her back - I swear she was smiling :-)

5 months but we got there in the end

Nothing is impossible , who said you can't teach a old dog new tricks eh..?

Eating seaweed - yuk lol

What a heart warming post, poor dog what a life but not uncommon unfortunately, well done you for taking her on and giving her the life she always wanted. Lovely pictures too and she is looking like she is having the time of her life, well worth the 5months of hard work I would say.

How great to read such a positive post! She looks SO happy bless her,and well done you - and your oh of course - for your kind hearts. Also for your work with the Staffy rescue, it must be heartbreaking at times. Please let us have more updates.

Awww thanks, we are the lucky ones to have her in our family now, she brings a lot of giggles and laughs in our house as she is crazy as a box of frogs, and very very sooky for cuddles which I love :-)

Great wee dog.

Such a joy to read. Your post has made me cry, but tears of happiness to know that another dog has finally discovered happiness in its life. The photo of her smiling says it all really. What a wonderful kind, patient and caring person you must be.
Does she have a forever home with you now, or will she be adopted eventually?

Oh no she is not going anywhere we officially adopted her 2 months ago, I could not of handled seeing her go to yet another home only to be rejected again, all this little dog wants is to be loved, she is soooo affectionate , she loves me and my hubby and are other two dogs. She slotted into the family very well. We have a few issues with her holding a pee over night she often has a little accident but then she has bred countless little a so I assume her muscle are weak but she is trying, it's getting less frequent and when you get up she rushed to the back door and sometimes just gets outside on the step and pees so she really is trying bless her.

We never wanted 3 dogs it's a bit of a hassle but she is worth the hassle :-)

Lovely pics for a Friday morning! I especially like the third one - that is the definition of 'frolicking'! Amazing how much rescue pets can change with the right treatment - well done you.
