I've just seen the pics of all the lovely tails and am jealous!

My mare rubbed her tail in 2009, and so all the tails at the top broke, now she has a pathetically thin tail, as all the hairs at the top are short and whispy.

So, what can I do to

a) encorage growth

b) stop her rubbing it again.

She doesn't have sweetitch, lice or anything else that is causing it, she is however pregnant.

Thanks! :)

mine rubs her tail because she gets too hot in the summer! It's thick and heavy and she gets sweaty lady bits underneath!

I'm just lucky with hers I guess, I tend to leave it alone and only brush it once a week and then I'm bad and brush it with a plastic curry comb and mane and tail. She lives out 24/7 and it gets washed every 2 months or so unless she's competing or hunting in which case it tends to be weekly!
