So how many horses do you have?

Technically, 2! Although currently, 0!

I have my first pony who is a New Forest, he's out on loan at the moment and I've just put a deposit down on a Welsh x Oldenburg foal who will be arriving in the New Year, he's currently roaming around on the Welsh hills with his Moma and friends!

I have three..

1 IDxWelsh 13 year old.Had him from a weanling. He does abit of everything
1 Gypsy cob 13 years old..She is being broken to drive
1 Very cute 5 month old weanling who arrived last week and will hopefully be my driving pony.

I have 5, on privately rented land.

1 x 12yo Arab advanced endurance horse
1 x 12yo Arab intermediate endurance horse
1 x 13yo Arab unridden mare who I am looking for a hubby for for next spring
1 x 31yo Arab retired broodmare pasture ornament
1 x 10yo TB x PRE gelding who is supposed to be my dressage horse but did very little work last year as I was too busy keeping the other 2 geldings endurance fit!

Oh, and a hairy grey/black Bedlington Whippet who frequently thinks he's a horse!

4, although 1 lives with my mum :)

Binky- 20yr old New Forest, retired with my mum.
Amber- TB. Chestnut. Mare. About says it all!
Blossom- Cob x. Going to be my hubby's driving pony.
Matti- ISH. Only had him for a short while. Plan to do a little bit of everything with him!

I have 2

Syd - 7yr old coloured ISH. Was mine originally, but he scared me a little and we weren't a good partnership, so instead of selling hubby now rides him and they are perfect for each other. They enjoy jumping (first competetion this weekend coming) but also did their first dressage competition last weekend.

Louis - 12yr old grey schoolmaster ex show cob (placed at HOYS so a bit of a start. He's such a confidence giver, teaching me loads and we enjoy pootling about on hacks, schooling and also just getting into dressage now. We also had our first competition on the weekend and I loved it !

I have 3, two at home, a 4 year old tb who never made the track and an 18 month coloured cob. 3rd is point to point training and making his debut next month, bidding to become the next kauto star

I have 3:

Lucky, 16 year old Welsh x Connie mare - Hack, school, show, fun rides
Blossom, 6 year old Welsh Section D mare - just showing at the moment as she doesn't have a saddle that fits her
Willow, 15 month old traditional cob - nothing

My boyfriend also has two:
Ben, 11 year old 17hh IDxTB gelding - hacks, schools, fun rides
Seppie, 25 year old 15.3 Anglo Arab mare - currently on part loan to a 12 year old girl who hacks, schools and does fun rides

And his mom has one:
Sox, 15 year old Welsh x gelding - hacks

Out of interest, to those of you who still have your "first" horse, or one that was used to one-to-one, did you find any jealousy as you brought in others?

OHs broodie owns OH :D The others are allowed near but if he stops stroking her they get a face.
Other broodie will wrap round me and if I take a phone call will pull a face, if on phone to OH and she hears him I get a whack  More jealousy over him than any horse.
All tend to come running over at a whistle or when they cotton on you're in the field.

His main youngster will reverse into him for bum scratches but shoot off if the others look like they are coming over.
Littluns will take and leave. My first will prance about not caring, but if others show interest in me not her, they get a face and she suddenly has an interest in me. Second grumpy pony will face, teeth, ears flat back and mini charge (normally with buck) at anything looking like it wants to come over, she'll come for a tickle and then sulk next to me as she knows that shes not allowed nasty behaviour while I'm between them, so others will then come over for scratches.

So all in all, they all think they own us, whether first ones or not. Heirarchy falls out the window when we're in there and normally end up having group scratches.

2. Si who is 21 and does a bit of everything. And Iva who is 2 - we do a little inhand showing for educational purposes and i'd like her to grow up to be an eventer.

4 until this afternoon when number 5 arrived! A 19 year old home bred Welsh Sect D X TB, retired due to ill health over many years, an expensive field ornament! 10 year old Welsh Sect D that I use for hacking, a nervous wreck that I should have sold years ago and in hind sight shouldn't have bought in the first place but he is sooooooooooo handsome:D. Then there is my miniature yearling that I fell in love with last year when she was a 4 month old foal and my OH bought her for me for our 25th wedding anniversary and her mother that we bought to keep 1st one company. And today we have got number 5, the grandaughter of my older miniature, a weanling who is at this moment calling her head off.:D. NO MORE!!!!! They are all at home with me and keep me busy.

Out of interest, to those of you who still have your "first" horse, or one that was used to one-to-one, did you find any jealousy as you brought in others?

Yes. My girl was a one-to-one pony and she got jealous when I started to work at riding school as I'd go to her field and bring in other mares and not her. She got moody for a while. I then moved and took her away and things settled down.
I now have a second pony who is her best friend BUT if I'm spending time with her, she does not like the other one near us and will chase her friend away. If I speak to my other horse, she will walk away in a huff.

Its a fine line of making sure she gets plenty of attention but not ignoring my second pony.

Two, and I NEVER thought that would happen! Then again, I remember the days when I thought I'd never even have one! In my defence they are family horses, not mine specifically but I do technically own half of the big boy!

Pottie (Puerto Rico) is a 14.1hh 16yo Dutch Riding Pony. She's done everything from dressage to SJ and XC, PC, etc, in the past. She and I don't get on riding-wise, and I'm the only one small enough to ride her, so she's a companion at the moment. We're hoping to find a keen teenager to have fun with her next year :)

Denys (Whitton Dancer) is a 16.2hh 16yo 7/8ths TB who has been with us for two weeks now. He has done it all, too - has an atrocious BE record, has apparently been well schooled on the flat (he's lovely in the school, can't wait to have lessons!) and has hunted. He's an enormous girly pants worrier but doesn't really do anything bad, so he is my mum's hack and my hack and play horse :D

I actually doubted we would have another when our mare died last year... for four hours until my mum rang and announced that she'd bought Pottie!

i have two :)

Rio - andalusian stallion who is being reschooled for dressage :)

Taz - ISH who is basically a happy hacker/field ornament but if he was actually in work he was my show jumper but he has been out of work for about a year now other than the occational hack out :)

At the moment we have 5, I own 2 of them soon to be 6 when I find a new one. :D

Larry 16.2hh 14yo Dutch warmblood and he showjump's and show's (he is my baby)

Robbie 16.3hh 10yo Tb ex-racer he now does working hunters, showing and will showjump. (he is also my baby)

Slyvia 16hh 7yo Dutch warmblood very well bred, she show's and is going to start jumping soon (should be fun lol) My sister horse

Victor 13.2hh 20yo Welsh Section B and he does bugger all but has shown and jumped. also my younger sisters horse.

Abbey 16.1hh 22yo French warmblood and she also does bugger all lol but she used to showjump and show but now ret due to neurological problems. My older sisiter horse.

Larry gets very jealous if I give fuss to Robbie, all of our horses have human name's lol

I have 2;
Meg, 15h WelshD X TB, now 16 (rising 17!) have evented, RC'd, hunted and shown but now we just happy hack, school in the field when able and jump when I can get the jumps out - we love to jump! She is truly my horse of a lifetime.
AND
Penny, 12.3/13h ish 2yr (rising 3) NF filly. Just spend some time 'playing' with her and keeping her occupied.

Both my girls share the same birthday (a major reason why Penny came into my life!)

Pandoras Jar: (sorry can't quote on my phone!) if you read my post I said 'demanding' full time job. Some are more demanding than others & in my profession I barely have time to wash my own hair Nevermind look after another horse!

Only the one - a 13.3hh New Forest gelding. Just an allround happy hacker/leisure horse (well, pony!)

Personally, I wouldn't want another on DIY/assisted livery - I work full time and although adore my horse, I enjoy having the time and money to have an active 'unhorsey life' too, which I couldn't do financially or timewise with another!

I have 1.......but soon will have 2.
Mine is a 3 1/2 yo New Forest filly....now a very pregnant 3 1/2 yo NF filly thanks to a very irresponsible ex YO not telling us she had entire colts, one of which covered my filly sometime earlier this year.

So far, I have shown her in hand. My plan was to back her next spring, and do some more showing at county level next year.

I have 4

15hh skewbald cob mare aged 23 who I hack out regually, love her to bits.

2 year old chestnut varnish roan appyxcob (filly of above cob mare) who should make 15.2hh.

3 year old red and white 12hh dartmoor x trotter/welsh D he needed a home and decided he could live with me just a companion at the moment.

16 year old palomino shettie, great with tiny kids but rarely gets ridden but is still safe even so.

I only have one he is 17yrs WB gelding and mostly does hacking these days although we used to do a lot of dressage and RC stuff - he struggles a bit with schooling now therefore I don't enjoy it. I would like another to do more RC and competing on but I think I would struggle to find both time and money for two and not sure if it would become a pain rather than a pleasure especially in winter.

Does anyone have more than one horse on part or DIY livery? It seems own land or privately rented land leads to rapid explosion of horse population! :D

I've got 5 at the moment and waiting for one to arrive next year.

William & Magic both retired, one show jumper and one show cob.

Bailey miniature horse used for showing

Shakirah another miniature horse for showing

And Tinkerbell the minis companion and possibly my new driving pony

All at a livery yard!

I only have the 1 as I can only afford 1, she ia a 3yr old traditional coblet. Used to have considerably more years ago, they were used for happy hacking and we used to breed, we had our own land back then

We have 5 but we are horse sitting my mother in laws two at the moment as well.
My boy Nico is a 4yr old welsh d. He was bought in awfull condition as a yearling (almost two year old) and i think the 18 months he was neglected has left him very immature. Hes a lovely boy.

My youngest daughter has a half standardbred called Sunny who although he is ten is very green, not having done much. She wants to hack and do local shows.

My eldest daughter has a 6 yr old ID x called Red. He started going on hacks and a bit of jumping last year. He is grumpy at times but another nice horse.

My hubby has two, a Shire x Dutch called Bramble who although not nasty can be a real moody mare! He also has a welsh a called Winny who is a three year old. He wants to drive her one day.

I have 3, Arab, all round good horse, aged 8, used for anything we fancy, being willing and able to try his hoof at anthing I ask him to. A very flashy Anglo Arab, who excels at jumping and a Sec C Welshie, another flashy chap who does well in in-hand showing. All rescues, looking like s***, and with their heads, hearts and bodies more or less wrecked.
Now all sane, happy chaps who are doing well.
