So how much would you pay for a jpeg from a pro 'tog?

Oh, and you can't post the pics online on FB or on a forum without paying the £12 per pic charge either. When I've just spent £90 with them, that's a bit beyond the pale I'm afraid....

I wanted pics for an advert last year and bought 2 CDs worth - after pointing out to them they'd stuck 2 horses in one file, so I could have been cheeky and paid for 1 CD but was honest. I nearly fell on the floor when they said it was £12 per pic to do anything beyond look at them on my computer or print them off. I negotiated with them, but it left a nasty taste and I'm not keen to give them my business again in a hurry, especially when they are asking £8.50 for a low res jpg...

That's why I get annoyed when people call photographers greedy, not all of us are. I'm sure I've shown this before but here's my T&C's, applicable if someone buys a £4 fb image.

Customers however, you're fine. If you've bought an image you're free to do what you want with it, except for handing it to magazines and papers etc for commercial publication. However, if you're using it for advertising a bike, car or horse then feel free to use it. If you're not sure that you're allowed to do something give me a phone and we'll sort something out. If you've bought it though the chances are I'll pretty much let you do anything you want with it.

Santa Clause, nice pic :)

Blackwijet - try Lidl the next time they have a fishing goods sale on, neoprene gloves with a detatchable cover for the index finger, absolutely perfect for £5 ;)

I don't think I've ever called photographers greedy - some are just more expensive than others, that's the way of the world isn't it? I just choose not to use the expensive ones very often! In much the same way that before I went freelance, lots of my clients paid my old company double per hour what they now pay me directly....both of us survive in the long run. I do, however, reserve the right to be shocked at prices ;)
